Overview

This document serves as an instruction manual for the Echelon EX-5s Connect Bike, a fitness product designed for home use, integrating with the Echelon Fit App for an interactive workout experience. The manual covers assembly, account creation, safety information, and warranty details.

Function Description

The Echelon EX-5s Connect Bike is a stationary exercise bike designed to provide a comprehensive fitness experience. It features a 21.5" FHD screen that allows users to access thousands of live and on-demand fitness classes through the Echelon Fit App. The bike's primary function is to facilitate cardiovascular workouts and strength training, with adjustable resistance and various ergonomic settings to accommodate different users and workout intensities. The integrated screen serves as a central hub for class selection, performance tracking, and interaction with the Echelon community and instructors. The bike is designed to be a core component of a connected fitness lifestyle, promoting health and wellness through accessible and sustainable workout experiences.

Usage Features

The Echelon EX-5s Connect Bike offers a range of features designed to enhance the user's workout experience and ensure comfort and safety.

  • Account Creation and Activation: Users begin by creating an account on member.echelonfit.com, where they can choose a membership plan (monthly, 1 year, or 2 years), set up payment, and enter personal information. An activation email is sent for products purchased from echelonfit.com, guiding users through the activation process. Once assembly is complete, users sign into their account, select a class, and connect their bike to begin.
  • Interactive Fitness Experience: The bike integrates with the Echelon Fit App, providing access to a wide variety of live and on-demand classes. This allows users to engage with instructors and the Echelon community, making workouts more engaging and personalized. The 21.5" FHD screen displays class content, performance metrics, and other relevant information during workouts.
  • Adjustable Ergonomics: The EX-5s is highly adjustable to fit various body types and preferences, ensuring a comfortable and effective workout.
    • Handlebar Height Adjustment: A lever allows users to easily adjust the handlebar height. The handlebar post frame is secured with a screw and bolt after adjustment.
    • Seat Post and Height Adjustment: The seat post can be adjusted for height using a dedicated lever. Users pull the lever out, raise or lower the seat to the desired position, and then release the lever to secure it in one of the adjustment holes.
    • Seat Slide Adjustment: A knob allows the seat to slide forward or backward along its track, enabling users to find their optimal riding position.
    • Resistance Knob/Brake Lever: This control allows users to adjust the workout intensity and also serves as a brake to stop the flywheel.
  • Pedals: The bike is equipped with pedals that have specific threading (reversed on the left pedal and nut) for secure attachment to the crank arms. Users must ensure the pedals are firmly seated against the crank arm using a double-sided wrench.
  • Dumbbell Holder: A dumbbell holder is attached to the seat post, allowing users to keep small weights (recommended not to exceed two 2 lb. dumbbells) within reach for integrated strength training during rides.
  • Water Bottle Holder: A water bottle holder is conveniently located on the post, ensuring users can stay hydrated during their workouts.
  • Power Adapter: The bike is powered via a power adapter that plugs into a port on the rear or front foot bracket and then into a wall outlet.
  • Safety Guidelines: The manual emphasizes several safety precautions:
    • Always ensure the bike is properly assembled and undamaged before use.
    • Do not exceed the weight limit of 300 pounds.
    • Avoid using the bike when sick or fatigued.
    • Wear proper attire and footwear that fully covers the feet, with long hair tied back and shoelaces tucked in.
    • Warm up and stretch before exercising.
    • Exercise caution when mounting and dismounting, waiting for pedals to stop completely.
    • Keep hands away from moving parts and ensure they are not placed on rubber handlebar grips.
    • Avoid overexertion; stop immediately if feeling faint, dizzy, short of breath, or experiencing chest pain, and consult a physician.
    • Stay hydrated with at least 12 oz. of water and use a towel to absorb sweat.
    • Do not use the bike in a standing position at high RPMs.
    • Keep the pelvis positioned over the center line of the bike.
    • Do not adjust resistance or handlebar position while standing.
    • Only use manufacturer-recommended accessory attachments.
    • Children under 13 should be kept away from the machine.
    • Maintain a minimum clearance of 0.5 meters (19.7 inches) on all sides of the bike for safe mounting and dismounting.

Maintenance Features

The Echelon EX-5s Connect Bike requires minimal but consistent maintenance to ensure its longevity and safe operation.

  • Cleaning: The manual recommends cleaning the Echelon Connect Bike with a soft rag and mild detergent or water. Corrosive chemical liquids should not be used as they may damage the cover. Regular wiping down after each use is advised to keep the bike sanitary.
  • Regular Checks: Users are instructed to always check the bike before use, ensuring that the seat and handlebars are securely fastened. Parts that undergo wear should be checked regularly.
  • Troubleshooting Connection Issues: For issues with the bike not connecting to the app, the manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide. This involves navigating to the Settings app on the tablet, clearing data or cache for "Bluetooth Share," and restarting the Echelon Fit™ App. If issues persist, users are advised to contact app support.
  • General Appliance Safety: As an electrical appliance, the bike should be unplugged immediately after use and before cleaning. It should never be left unattended when plugged in. The cord should be kept away from heated surfaces, and air openings should not be blocked.
  • Professional Assistance: If the appliance has a damaged cord or plug, is not working properly, has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water, it should be returned to a service center for examination and repair. For any problems affecting the performance of the bike, users are advised to contact the manufacturer immediately.
  • Warranty: The Echelon Fit 1-Year Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects. If a defect develops within one year of purchase, Echelon will replace the entire product or repair/replace defective parts without charge. The warranty is void if damage is due to abuse, failure to operate according to instructions, or incorrect electrical current.
