Overview

The EcoLantern, model GDI-EXLTN400, is a versatile device combining a lantern and a Bluetooth speaker, designed to be a perfect companion for various adventures. It features a robust design with LED status indicators for EcoConnect, Bluetooth, and battery level. The device is controlled via a set of buttons on the front panel and a master power switch located in a rear compartment.

Function Description

The EcoLantern serves two primary functions: a portable lantern and a Bluetooth speaker.

Speaker Functionality: To use the speaker, first open the cap on the back of the EcoLantern and turn on the Master Power Switch. Then, press the Speaker Standby Power Button (labeled "PWR ON" with a music note icon) on the front panel to activate the speaker. Once powered on, the EcoLantern will search for Bluetooth connections. Users can then search for the EcoLantern on their smart device, pair, and play audio.

The speaker features include:

  • Speaker On/Off: Activated by pressing the Speaker Standby Power Button.
  • Bluetooth Connectivity: When turned on, the EcoLantern automatically searches for Bluetooth devices. It remembers the last paired device and attempts to reconnect automatically. If the LED is not flashing or to pair with a new device, press and release the Bluetooth button on the front panel. The device will announce "Ready to connect" when in pairing mode.
  • EcoConnect (TrueWireless Stereo - TWS): This feature allows two EcoLantern units to be wirelessly paired for stereo sound. To use EcoConnect, first connect one EcoLantern to a smart device via Bluetooth. Then, power on the second EcoLantern and press and release the EcoConnect button on both speakers. The speakers will announce "EcoConnect, pairing speakers" and then "Speakers Paired, Stereo Mode, Left Speaker" and "Right Speaker" once connected. The EcoConnect light will turn solid BLUE on both units. While connected, users can press and hold the Play/Pause/Answer button to cycle through three EcoConnect modes: Stereo (Left/Right), Stereo (Right/Left), and Mono. This feature works up to 30 feet (9.1 meters) between paired speakers and only when Bluetooth is the audio source.
  • Track Selection: Buttons are available to select the previous song track ("<") or the next song track (">").
  • Play/Pause/Answer: A dedicated button allows users to pause and play song tracks. When paired with a Bluetooth device, this button also answers mobile calls. Pressing and holding this button activates voice assistants like Siri or Google Assistant.
  • Speaker Volume: Buttons are provided to decrease ("-") or increase ("+") the speaker volume. The EcoLantern will beep when maximum or minimum volume is reached.

Lantern Functionality: To use the lantern, open the cap on the back and turn on the Master Power Switch. Then, press the Lantern Standby Power Button (labeled "PWR ON" with a light bulb icon) on the front panel to turn on the light.

The lantern features include:

  • Lantern On/Off: Pressing the Lantern Standby Power Button cycles through four settings: Mode 1 (OFF), Mode 2 (360° light), Mode 3 (180° - side 1 light), and Mode 4 (180° - side 2 light).
  • Lantern Mode: The Mode button (labeled "MODE") cycles through five different light modes:
    • Mode 1: Warm White Light
    • Mode 2: Red Light
    • Mode 3: Color Fade
    • Mode 4: Music Sync Colors
    • Mode 5: Emergency (Flashing Red and White Lights)
  • Lantern Brightness: Buttons are available to decrease (sun icon with minus) or increase (sun icon with plus) the lantern brightness. Brightness levels range from 10% to 100% and are applicable only in Warm White Light and Red Light modes.

General Features:

  • Battery Indicator: Four LED battery level indicators are located on the front panel. Each LED represents 25% of a charge, with four full LEDs indicating a full charge. When connected to a power source, the LEDs flash sequentially to show that the unit is charging.
  • Audio AUX-IN: A 3.5mm auxiliary input allows connection of audio devices as an alternative to Bluetooth. Volume control for AUX-IN must be managed from the connected audio device.
  • USB Input (Charging the EcoLantern): A USB Micro port is used to charge the EcoLantern.
  • USB Output (Charging External Devices): A USB Output (5V, 2.1A) port allows users to charge personal devices.
  • Bottle Opener: The device includes a bottle opener on its bottom.

Usage Features

Quick Start for Speaker:

  1. Open the cap on the back.
  2. Turn on the Master Power Switch.
  3. Press the Speaker Standby Power Button.
  4. Search for Bluetooth connection on your smart device.
  5. Pair & Play.

Quick Start for Lantern:

  1. Open the cap on the back.
  2. Turn on the Master Power Switch.
  3. Press the Lantern Standby Power Button.
  4. Use the Power, Mode, and Brightness buttons to adjust the light.

Power On, Battery, & LED Status Indicators: After charging, press either the Speaker or Lantern Standby Power Button. Battery indicator LEDs will illuminate, and if the speaker is turned on, it will announce "Speaker On, Ready to Connect." The Master Power Switch, located under the back cap, must be in the ON position for the standby power buttons to function.

Charging: Before first use, fully charge the EcoLantern until all battery level indicators are solid BLUE. A full charge from low takes approximately 3 hours. The EcoLantern can be charged via a USB Micro port connected to a USB cable and a 5V power source (AC adapter or computer). It is recommended to use the included USB cable and power adapter.

Waterproofness: The unit is waterproof (IP67 rated) only when the back cap is properly closed. It can be submerged in up to 6 feet of water for 30 minutes without damage, but it is not intended for constant underwater use.

Maintenance Features

Maintaining Waterproofness:

  • Always ensure the cap on the back panel is properly closed to maintain watertight and waterproof integrity. To open, turn the cap to the LEFT until the arrow aligns with the unlocked symbol. To close, turn the cap to the RIGHT until the arrow aligns with the locked symbol.
  • The unit is NOT watertight if the cap is not properly closed.
  • Always close the cap properly to ensure the unit is watertight and waterproof.

General Care and Precautions:

  • Do NOT open the unit for repairs; a qualified technician should perform any repair work.
  • Do NOT charge the unit if it is wet. Towel dry the unit and ensure all connections are dry BEFORE plugging in the charging connector to prevent electrical damage and voiding the warranty.
  • Do NOT apply excessive force to any surfaces of the unit when wet or in a wet environment.
  • Do NOT use or store the unit in places with high temperatures.
  • AVOID prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UV sunlight) and strong magnetic fields.
  • Periodically check the rubber seal for premature wear.
  • Periodically clean the rubber seal with a soft, moist cloth, ensuring no dirt, hair, or sand are on the seal ring. Do NOT use oily solvents or chemicals for cleaning.
  • Rinse off the unit with tap water after use in saltwater or swimming pools.
  • Do NOT remove the built-in battery or the grill covers.
  • If water ingress is suspected or the unit has experienced a severe impact, return it to Enfinity for assessment. Do NOT charge a device with water inside due to potential fire or shock hazards.
  • Always use the ECOXGEAR speaker in accordance with music or noise rules and regulations, and ensure audio levels allow awareness of surroundings.
  • Store the unit with all caps properly sealed to avoid long-term internal moisture damage.
  • Completely dry and clean the ECOXGEAR before charging.

Master Power Switch: The Master Power Switch, located in the back compartment under the cap, should be turned OFF when the unit is not in use for extended periods to preserve battery life. The Standby Power functions will not operate if the Master Power Switch is OFF.
