Do you have a question about the EdenPURE ScaleRID SR-1000 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ScaleRID SR-1000/SR-2000 is an environmentally friendly, electronic hard water treatment system designed to alter the materialization of mineral build-up (scale) on surfaces within a home's water system, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances. It achieves this by increasing the nominal precipitation rate of certain minerals in the water.

Function Description:

The ScaleRID system treats hard water by generating a range of frequencies that modify the minerals in the water. This process prevents new scale from forming and, over time, can dissolve existing limescale. Unlike traditional water softeners, ScaleRID systems do not remove minerals from the water but rather modify them so they pass through the system without collecting and forming scale. This means there is no need for salt, no noisy regeneration cycles, and no wasted water.

Important Technical Specifications:

ScaleRID SR-2000 Specifics:

  • Power Consumption: Average 12 Watts
  • Operating Temperature: -4°F (-20°C) to 149°F (65°C)
  • Max. Component Temperature: 185°F
  • Max. Enclosure Temperature: 160°F
  • Capable of Driving: 4 coils double stacked
  • Dimension Unpacked (LxWxH): 7.7"x5.0"x1.0"
  • Weight Packed: Maximum 2.0 lbs

Output Indicators (Both Models):

  • LED Bar Graph for "Power On," "Operation," and "Coil Connection Status." Signal Indicators cycle continuously up and down to show the module is generating frequencies for water treatment. Power Indicators are always on.

Usage Features:

  • Indoor Installation: The system is designed for indoor use only and should not be exposed to outdoor or extreme weather conditions.
  • Quick Connect Coil Placement:
    • Best placed closest to the home's incoming water source, before any appliances, water heaters, or other treatment devices.
    • If a water meter is inside the home, install the coil after the meter.
    • Coils can be placed on a water pipe regardless of orientation (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal).
    • For optimal performance, coils should be installed at least six inches away from any metallic objects, appliances, or other electrical devices.
    • The Quick Connect Coils are supplied with two wires, which represent the maximum recommended length from the control module. Wires can be shortened but should not be spliced or extended.
    • For the SR-2000 model, the two Quick Connect Coils should be placed at least 10 inches but not more than 40 inches apart.
  • Control Module Mounting Options:
    • Hanging from a Pipe: No tools required. Uses two hanging straps to secure the module to a horizontal water pipe.
    • Wall Mounting: Requires a drill and screwdriver. The module can be used as a template to mark drill holes for wall anchors and screws. Screws should be lightly tightened to avoid cracking the plastic housing.
  • Foam Adapters: Supplied to adapt the Quick Connect Coil to standard water pipe sizes (½", ¾", or 1" diameter). Users measure pipe circumference to determine the correct number of foam adapters needed.
  • Connection: Quick Connect Coil wires insert into spring clip receptacles on the Control Module (polarity is not important). The 12 Volt Power Supply Cord connects to the Control Module and then to a 110V or 220V AC electrical outlet.
  • Operation Indication: Once powered, the LED bar graph on the Control Module pulsates, indicating successful Quick Coil Connection and proper operation.
  • Descaling Process Monitoring:
    • Signs of descaling are typically seen within two weeks, though full effectiveness may take 30 to 90 days as pre-existing scale is removed.
    • External indicators include showerheads and faucets becoming scale-free, aerator screens showing no scale, and surfaces in contact with treated water becoming easier to clean.
    • Internal indicators include improved hot water heating efficiency (up to 30% energy savings) and improved water flow in severely scaled systems.
  • Benefits over Water Softeners:
    • Saves energy costs by preventing scale build-up.
    • Eliminates the need for a softener and repeated salt purchases.
    • Provides salt-free water.
    • Does not discharge salt-laden water into the environment.
    • Reduces detergent consumption.
    • Prevents new limescale and dissolves existing limescale.
  • Effects on Soap Scum and Skin:
    • About 20% reduction in soaps/detergents needed.
    • Less scum forms in bathtubs and showers, with improved soap lather.
    • Improvement in skin condition for those with dry or itchy skin.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The device is durable and does not require excessive cleaning. If cleaning is desired, unplug the device before dusting. Do not immerse the Control Module in water; simply brush away dust and wipe with a damp cloth if needed. Avoid contacting spring clip terminals with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or steel wool.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check the LED lights to ensure they are still cycling up and down, indicating proper operation.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A guide is provided for common issues such as the unit not responding, LED bars flashing simultaneously (indicating coil disconnection), or LED bars not illuminating correctly.
  • Warranty: Three-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects in material and/or workmanship under normal usage. The Control Module housing is not covered. Warranty is void if the device is misused, neglected, tampered with, or if defects are caused by external factors like fire, lightning, or abnormal voltage surges.
