Appendix D - Browser Compatibility
Here are some notes regarding browser compatibility. They may or may not apply to your
platform… there are a LOT of different hardware/software combinations, particularly with
Android. In general, the manufacturer’s browser is usually the best choice, except with Android
in which case we recommend Firefox.
We recommend that you use your browser’s “private” or “incognito” mode, which prevents
storing data on pages. That way if you go back it won’t repeat what you entered. The web
server code in the processor tells the browser not to cache the pages, but there’s no guarantee that
your browser won’t do it anyway.
iOS (versions 8-11 tested)
Safari – Strongly recommended. Good response, works well with the detail download after you
install a suitable .csv-aware application (i.e. WPS Office). If you don’t have a csv-aware
application, it will display the data in the browser.
Firefox – Works fine, but doesn’t automatically launch the .csv-aware application. You can
copy the data to your app.
Opera – Works fine, but doesn’t automatically launch the csv-aware application. You can copy
the data to your app.
Android (4.4.2 tested)
Firefox – Recommended. Good response, downloads are relatively quick and are saved to the
Downloads folder to be opened by your .csv-aware app.
Chrome - Fine for everything except downloads. Downloads are very slow.
Opera – OK for everything except downloads. Can’t handle the downloads.
Windows
Internet Explorer – Strongly recommended. Good response, you can save the detail download
.csv data or open it with your installed app. We recommend that you save it first.
Firefox – Not recommended. Response is slow. Very slow downloading detail data.
Opera – Not recommended. Response is slow, downloads are sketchy.
Safari – Not recommended. Reponse is slow, downloads are slow and open in browser instead
of downloading.
Chrome – Not recommended. Response is slow, downloads are slow.
