CHANGING/ CLEANING AIR FILTER CHANGING/ CLEANING AIR FILTER
Proper air lter maintenance is extremely important for o-road vehicles. A dirty, water-soaked, worn out air lter
will allow dirt, dust, mud or other impurities to pass into the engine. If you are riding in wet and/or muddy areas,
you should service the air lter more oen. Always replace the air lter with a genuine EGL MotorEGL Motor lter specical-
ly designed for your model or a lter of equal quality.
Failure to maintain the lter can/may cause engine wear or damage, expensive repairs, low engine power, low fuel
mileage, carbon build up on valves and foul the spark plug.
1. Loosen the air lter clamp by turning it counter-clockwise.
2. Remove the air lter, earful not to tear the lter as you are removing it from its location.
3. Remove the top foam cover.
4. Use an industrial lter solvent manufactured specically for foam lters.
5. Once you have cleaned the lter thoroughly, rinse with warm water, let air dry. DO NOTDO NOT put it directly
under the sun.
6. Aer the 2 parts of the lter are dry, place them in a plastic bag and add 0.80 oz (24 ml) of clean new
foam air lter oil on the lter.
7. Close the plastic bag and spread the oil evenly around the lter.
8. Drain o any access oil in the bag before assembly on the 2 foam lter pieces.
9. Install the lter back on to the carburetor and tighten the clamp by turn it clockwise.
10. Be sure the clamp is secure, if the lter should come loose, dust and dirt will go inside the carburetor and
engine and cause damage.
Improper installation of the air cleaner assembly may/will
allow dirt and dust to get inside the engine and cause rapid
wear of the piston rings and cylinder
