LAZ 5100 at a Glance

Provides a summary of technical specifications including frequencies, display, ranges, accuracy, power, and environmental conditions.

Overview

The ELAC Nautik LAZ 5100 is a navigation echo sounder designed to provide reliable depth information for safe navigation. It is available as a single- or dual-frequency unit and can operate with various transducers ranging from 24 kHz to 200 kHz, offering a maximum measuring range of 2,000 meters. This device is suitable for vessels of all sizes and can be integrated into both new constructions and modernization projects.

Function Description

The primary function of the LAZ 5100 is to accurately detect the sea bottom, providing crucial water depth information below a vessel. It ensures reliable detection in both shallow and deep waters through automatic and smooth operation. The system is designed to meet IMO requirements for navigation equipment and is type-approved by BSH, USCG, and CCS.

The electronic unit supports 8 different frequencies, and its menu-controlled transducer and performance settings allow for easy setup. The large 10.4-inch high-resolution TFT color display presents detailed depth information, including a colored echogram that shows the trend of the water depth. The current water depth is displayed digitally, along with information about the ship's position, date, and time. The display can be dimmed in 9 steps for comfortable viewing during twilight and night.

The LAZ 5100 features a menu-guided operation with direct access to all functions, allowing operators to easily configure the system to their specific needs. Automatic gain control (AGC) and Time Varied Gain (TVG) ensure reliable bottom detection in various water depths without requiring additional user intervention. An internal memory stores 24 hours of depth, position, date, and time data.
