7. TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM LIKELY CAUSE SOLUTION
a) Hard starting No fuel
Stale fuel or build-ups in tank
Incorrect starting procedure
Spark plug disconnected
The spark plug is wet or the spark
plug electrodes are dirty or placed
inadequately
Air filter clogged
Incorrect oil for the season
Fuel evaporation in the carburettor
(vapor lock) due to high temperatures
Fault in carburation
Hard starting
Check and top up
Empty fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel
Perform the starting procedure
correctly
Check that the spark plug cap fits well
over the plug terminals
Check
Check and clean
Replace with proper oil
Wait for a few minutes then start again
