1 Before you begin
1.1 About this document
This document provides information about how to install, commission, and proof-test a
Rosemount 5300 Level Transmitter to comply with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
requirements.
Note
The following conditions must apply:
The transmitter has been installed correctly and completely according to the
instructions in the Reference Manual and Quick Start Guide.
The installation complies with all applicable safety requirements.
The operator is trained in local and corporate safety standards.
1.2 About this product
The Rosemount 5300 is a two-wire transmitter for continuous level measurements over a
broad range of liquids, slurries, and solids. The measurement principle is Time Domain
Reflectometry (TDR).
The Rosemount 5300 can be used as the level sensor in a BPCS or as a safety device in a
safety instrumented system.
