1.1 About this document
This document provides information about how to install, commission, and proof-test a
Rosemount 5300 Level Transmitter to comply with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
requirements.
Note
The following conditions must apply:
• The transmitter has been installed correctly and completely according to the
instructions in the Reference Manual and Quick Start Guide.
• The installation complies with all applicable safety requirements.
• The operator is trained in local and corporate safety standards.
1.2 About this product
The Rosemount 5300 is a two-wire transmitter for continuous level measurements over a
broad range of liquids, slurries, and solids. The measurement principle is Time Domain
Reflectometry (TDR).
The Rosemount 5300 can be used as the level sensor in a BPCS or as a safety device in a
safety instrumented system.
