Overview

This document provides instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of the Enchanted Garden fountain, Model# 2775542, which utilizes a Yuan Hua submersible pump.

Function Description

The Enchanted Garden fountain is a decorative water feature designed for outdoor use. It circulates water to create a soothing visual and auditory experience. The fountain is designed to be splash-free, and proper assembly and maintenance are crucial to prevent damage and ensure longevity. The submersible pump is responsible for circulating the water, creating the fountain effect.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model Number: 2775542
  • Pump Type: Yuan Hua Submersible Pump
  • Power Requirement: The national electric code requires a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) to be used in the branch circuit supplying fountain pumps and other pond equipment.
  • Water Temperature: Do not use with water above 86°F (30°C).
  • Submersion: The pump must always be submerged in water during operation.
  • Safety: The pump is supplied with a grounding conductor and a grounding type attachment plug. Do not remove the grounding pin from the plug. Do not connect to any voltage other than what the pump is rated for. Do not pump flammable liquids.
  • Warranty: This product is guaranteed for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase for material or manufacturing defects. The warranty is void in case of improper use, handling, or negligence.

Usage Features

Assembly:

  1. Step 1: Pull out the flexible hose from inside the fountain, then connect it to the pump outlet.
  2. Step 2: Find the cable line of the light from inside the fountain and pull it out from the back hole shown in Figure 4, then connect it with the adaptor shown in Figure 3.
  3. Step 3: Place the strainer mesh into the fountain, and put the cover on top of the fountain, as shown in Figure 1.

Operation:

  1. Placement: Choose an appropriate location for the fountain. Ensure the fountain is designed to create a splash-free as possible; some water splashing out of the fountain is normal. Place the fountain in a location where any splashing will not cause damage.
  2. Water Filling: Fill the reservoir with clean water until the pump is completely submerged. The water level should be high enough to submerge the pump completely. This ensures the pump can work properly and prevents damage due to the pump running dry.
  3. Pump Adjustment: Adjust the pump flow rate to achieve the desired effect and to minimize any splashing. The flow rate can be increased or decreased by moving the flow rate control slider on the pump body. Moving the slider towards "Max" will increase the flow rate, and moving it towards "Min" will decrease it. On some types of pumps, the flow regulator may be turned clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust.
  4. Cleaning: Always keep the fountain working with sufficient water and clean of debris and dirt to ensure proper functioning of the pump. If necessary, clean the fountain with a soft cloth and change the water frequently. Due to water evaporation, you may see a buildup of white residue on the fountain surface from mineral content in the water supply. To prevent such buildup, regularly clean the fountain with soap and water. Do not use any abrasives which may damage the applied finish.
  5. Algae Control: Use of water clarifier or algaecide of any kind will damage the paint on the fountain and will not be covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
  6. Winterization: See the pump instructions for pump safety, maintenance, and warranty information.
  7. Manual Storage: Keep this manual for future reference.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always disconnect from the electrical outlet before handling the pump.
  • Do not let the pump run dry.
  • Do not lift the pump by the power cord.
  • Do not pump heated liquids.
  • Operate in freshwater only.
  • Operate the pump only when completely submerged for proper cooling.
  • Excessive weight or pressure on any of the fountain sections may cause it to fall. Keep pets, children, or anyone from sitting, leaning, or climbing on any of the fountain components.
  • While the fountain is designed to operate as splash-free as possible, some water splashing out of the fountain is normal. Place the fountain in a location where any splashing will not cause damage.
  • The National Electric Code requires that a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) be used in the branch circuit supplying fountain pumps and other pond equipment. Seek your electrical supplies dealer for this device.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Cleaning: To clean the pump, remove the front cover and the impeller. Use a small brush or stream of water to remove any debris.
  • Water Quality: Always keep the fountain working with sufficient water and clean of debris and dirt. Change the water frequently. Regularly clean the fountain with soap and water to prevent mineral buildup.
  • Pump Inspection: Periodically check the pump discharge and tubing for kinks and obstructions. Algae buildup can be flushed out with a garden hose. Check the inlet screen to ensure it is not clogged with debris. Remove the pump inlet to access the impeller area. Turn the rotor to ensure it is not broken or jammed.
  • Electrical Connections: Monthly maintenance will add to your pump's life. Ensure that the electrical cord loops below the electrical outlet to form a "Drip Loop." This will prevent water from running down the cord into the electrical outlet.

Troubleshooting (If pump does not run, or lights are not on):

  1. Circuit Breaker: Check the circuit breaker, try another outlet.
  2. Water Level: Check the water level in the fountain. Running the pump without sufficient water can damage the pump.
  3. Flow Setting: Check the setting of the flow control on the pump and adjust the flow.
  4. Pump Intake: Check the pump discharge and intake for dirt and debris.
  5. Fountain Feature: Check the fountain feature, tubing for kinks and obstructions.
  6. Air Lock: The pump might be "air locked." Plug and unplug the pump several times to release the air inside the pump.
  7. Cords: Check and reconnect all the cords and try again.

Pump Maintenance (Specific to Yuan Hua Submersible Pump):

  • Clogged Screen: A clogged or dirty intake screen will greatly reduce performance. If the pump is used on a dirty surface, raise it slightly to reduce the amount of debris contacting the intake. If less flow is desired, adjust the flow control lever on the side of the pump or restrict the discharge flow.
  • Submersion: Do not let the pump run when not submerged in water. Doing so may damage the pump. Always submerge the pump first, and then plug into an electrical outlet. When you first use the pump there may be air in the pump causing water not to flow. Prime the pump by plugging and unplugging the pump from the power source until water starts to flow.
