6 Commissioning
6.1 Function check
Before commissioning the measuring point make sure that all final checks have been carried out:
“Post-installation check” checklist, ä 11
“Post-connection check” checklist, ä 20

Note!
The functional data of the PROFIBUS
®
PA interface as per IEC 61158-2 (MBP) must be observed.
The bus voltage of 9 to 32 V and the current consumption of approx. 11 mA at the device can be
checked using a normal multimeter.
6.2 Switching on the head transmitter
Once the final checks have been successfully completed, it is time to switch on the supply voltage.
The head transmitter performs a number of internal test functions after power-up. As this procedure
progresses, the following sequence of messages appears on the display:
The device begins normal operation after approx. 8 seconds, the attached display after
approx. 12 seconds. Normal measuring mode commences as soon as the switch-on procedure is
completed. Various measured values and/or status values appear on the display.

1 Display name and firmware (FW) and hardware (HW) version
2 Company logo
3a Device name as well as the FW and HW of the head transmitter
3b Display of device address, IDENT_NUMBER_SELECTOR mode and current
IDENT_NUMBER
3c Sensor configuration
4a The current measured value or
4b The current status message

Note!
If the switch-on procedure fails, the appropriate status message is displayed, depending on
the cause. A detailed list of the status messages, as well as the measures for troubleshooting,
can be found in chapter 9, 'Troubleshooting'.
