4. Trouble-shooting
Normal operation When the Nivotester FTC 420 or 421 is operating:
• the green LED lights continuously,
• the red LED lights when the relay output is de-energised.
The switching of the relay depends upon the fail-safe mode
selected see Figs 7 and 8 on page 28.
Testing the measuring
system
a) Testing the Nivotester FTC 420/421 alone:
• If the FTC 420/421 signals »empty«, short-circuiting terminals
8 and 10 must lead to a »full« signal.
• If the FTC 420/421 signals »full«, which is only possible when a
probe with electronic insert EC 61 is connected, short-circuiting
terminals 8 and 9 leads to an »empty« signal.
b) Testing the complete measuring system:
• Touching the central fixing screw of the electronic insert with an
insulated (electrician’s) screwdriver: the relay in the Nivotester
must switch.
