2 Basic safety instructions
2.1 Personnel requirements
The operating personnel must fulfill the following requirements in their work:
Trained, qualified specialists
must have a relevant qualification for this specific function and task.
Are authorized by the plant owner/operator.
Are familiar with federal/national regulations.
Before beginning work, the specialist staff must have read and understood the instructions in
the Operating Instructions and supplementary documentation as well as in the certificates
(depending on the application).
Follow instructions and comply with conditions.
2.2 Designated use
Application and fluids
The measuring device described in this manual is to be used only for measuring the flow rate of
conductive liquids in closed pipes.
A minimum conductivity of 50 S/cm is required for measuring purposes.
The measuring device is designed to measure the following fluids:
•Drinking water
•Rain water
•Spring water
In compliance with the limit values specified in the "Technical data" section and the general
conditions indicated in the manual and supplementary documentation, the measuring device
may only be used for the following measurements:
Measured measured variables: volume flow
Calculated measured variables: mass flow
To ensure that the measuring device remains in proper operating condition for its service life:
Only use the measuring device for fluids to which the process-wetted materials are adequately
resistant.
Comply with the limit values in the "Technical data" section.
Note!
As an option, Promag W 800 is tested in accordance with OIML R49 and has an EC
type-examination certificate as per Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC (MID) for
service subject to legal metrological control ("custody transfer") for cold water (Annex
MI-001).
The permitted fluid temperature in these applications is 0 to +50 °C (+32 to +122 °F).
