Overview

This document provides an owner's use and care guide for the Epic Electric Range, model EER239. It includes important safety information, a parts description, installation instructions, operating procedures, and maintenance guidelines.

Function Description:

The Epic Electric Range EER239 is a domestic cooking appliance designed for baking, broiling, and surface cooking. It features a cooktop with multiple heating elements and an oven with bake and broil functions. The range is intended solely for the cooking of household food and is not suitable for commercial or communal environments.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions:
    • Height: 45 1/16 inches (1145 mm)
    • Width: 23 5/8 inches (600 mm)
    • Depth: 24 inches (610 mm)
  • Cooktop Elements: Two 6-inch burners and two 8-inch burners.
  • Oven Elements: 4-pass broil element and hidden bake element.
  • Oven Temperature Range: WARM/200°F to 500°F (93°C to 260°C).
  • Electrical Connection: Equipped with a CSA International Certified Power Cord intended to be plugged into a standard 14-50R wall receptacle. The range must be connected to the proper electrical voltage and frequency as specified on the rating label.
  • Oven Light: 240V 60Hz, 25W, G9 bulb, suitable for high temperatures (300°C - 570°C).

Usage Features:

  • Surface Cooking Controls: Individual control knobs for each burner, allowing variable heat settings between "MIN" and "MAX." An indicator light illuminates when a surface element is in use.
  • Oven Function Selector: A knob to select either "BAKE" or "BROIL" functions.
    • BAKE: Uses the hidden bottom heat element for even baking.
    • BROIL: Uses the upper heating element for high heat, recommended with a two-piece broiler pan (sold separately). The oven door should be closed during broiling.
  • Oven Thermostat Knob: Sets the desired cooking temperature for both bake and broil functions, ranging from WARM/200°F to 500°F.
  • Oven Racks: Two adjustable oven racks with stop-locks to prevent them from tilting or coming completely out of the oven when pulling them forward.
  • Automatic Oven Light: The oven light automatically turns on when "BAKE" or "BROIL" functions are selected and turns off when the oven function selector knob is set to "OFF."
  • Preheating: It is recommended to preheat the oven until the temperature light turns off for best baking and broiling results.
  • Cookware Recommendations: Use cooking vessels with flat bottoms and tight-fitting lids. Pan size should match the element size to conserve energy and prevent spills. Only certain types of glass, glass/ceramic, ceramic, earthenware, or other glazed utensils are suitable for cooktop use, with low to medium heat settings recommended for glass cookware. Utensil handles should be turned inward and not extend over adjacent surface units.

Maintenance Features:

  • Easy Clean Cooktop: The range features a durable, one-piece, upswept porcelain enamel cooktop with no seams for food or dirt accumulation, making it easy to clean with a wet cloth and non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Lift-Up Cooktop: The cooktop can be lifted up and propped with a support rod for cleaning underneath. Locking tabs secure the cooktop back into place.
  • Removable Oven Door: The oven door can be easily removed for cleaning by engaging retaining clips on the hinges, raising the door, and withdrawing the lower hinge pins.
  • Removable Storage Drawer: The bottom storage drawer can be pulled out and lifted up for cleaning.
  • Cleaning Oven Interior: The oven interior has a durable porcelain enamel finish and can be cleaned with warm water and baking soda solution. For heavy baked-on spills, a spray-on oven cleaner can be used, but not on elements, glass door, backguard, or controls.
  • Cleaning Surface Elements and Drip Bowls: Drip bowls can be lifted out after gently pulling out the surface elements from their receptacles. Elements and drip bowls should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water. Do not immerse burners in water or use aluminum foil on drip bowls.
  • Replacing Oven Light: The oven light bulb can be replaced by removing the protective cover, unscrewing the old bulb, and inserting a new one with the specified wattage and temperature rating. This should only be done after disconnecting the appliance from the power supply and allowing the oven cavity to cool.
  • Cleaning Inside Oven Door: If food or liquid falls between the glass panels of the oven door, the door can be removed, and the plastic latch at the top corner can be unscrewed to take out the glass for cleaning.
  • Leveling Legs: Four leveling legs at the bottom corners of the range can be adjusted by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise to ensure the appliance is level.
  • Anti-Tip Bracket: An anti-tip bracket is included and must be installed to secure the range to the floor, preventing it from tipping over. The bracket can be installed on either the right or left back leg.
