4.2.4.2 Removal of Printer Mechanism
1. Remove the platen unit and paper guide (see Section 4.2.4.1).
2. Disconnect the cables from the following connectors on the SAMA board: CN5 (red), CN6 (yellow), CN7
(white), CN8 (flexible flat cable, or “FFC”), CN9 (FFC), and CN12 (white). Refer to Figure 4-8.
3. Disconnect the cable at the base plate. This cable connects the SAMA board to the printer mechanism.
Refer to Figure 4-6.
4. With a screwdriver, push and loosen the six tabs securing the printer mechanism to the lower case. For
easiest removal, follow the procedure below.
WARNING
Be sure to push the tabs GENTLY, so not to damage the lower case or printer mechanism.

a. Loosen tabs 1 and 2, and lift the left side of the frame about half an inch (1 cm) above the lower case.
b . Loosen tab 3, and raise the left side farther, so that it is about 2.5 inches (6 cm) above the lower case.
c. Loosen tabs 4, 5, and 6, and remove the printer mechanism.
