TURN OFF WATER TO/FROM SYSTEM, RELIEVE PRESSURE IN SYSTEM, AND DISCONNECT VALVE FROM TANK:
1a: For all units with dual-port bypass: Turn off water to and from the system by turning valves 90 degrees so they
are perpendicular to incoming/outgoing pipes
1b: For all units with larger valves (2750-HF, 2850-11/2 or larger): Turn off water to and from the system by turning
the required plumber installed valves on the incoming and outgoing lines off. Then open the required bypass valve
to home.
2: Once water is off - put system into backwash mode. This will begin to expel any remaining water and air which
will relieve the pressure in the tank. Once the pressure has been relieved, put system back into its standby mode
and unplug electric connection. Warning: Do Not unplug electrical in mid-cycle.
3a: Disconnect dual-port bypass from valve by removing screws and clasps that connect the valve and the bypass
and disconnect the drain line.
3b: Larger systems (2750-HF, 2850-11/2 or larger units) disconnect the incoming and outgoing lines, and the drain
line by the required installed union connections.
Note: Upon separation of the bypass or lines to/from the valve - water will be present.
REMOVAL, CLEAN, INSPECT AND PREPARE FOR THE REPLACEMENT :
4: Remove Control Valve by turning counter clockwise from the media tank.
5: Remove (1054 and 1354’s only) stainless steel tank cover (non-functional, strictly aesthetic)
6: Tip over tank or any method easier for you. Remove, Flush and/or Extract old media from the tank.
Note: This can be messy. Use a drop cloth or burlap that will allow water to flow through material but will capture media
for easy disposal. Bottom line: Remove media by any method easier for your application.
7: Pull out and discard old riser manifold with ICN'(s) (or free floating ICN'(s) pre-1998 units
****)
8: Clean, Disinfect and Inspect the tank interior, tank top by threads, the drain port and drain line, the valve, valve
lower screen, and valve o-rings, and all connections.
LOADING THE ICN RISER MANIFOLD & GAC REPLACEMENT MEDIA:
9: Cap the top of the ICN Riser Manifold to prevent filling with media. Use riser cap included or any heavy-duty tape.
10: Place capped ICN Riser Manifold in the center of the tank.
Note: Due to tank or base variances, the ICN Riser Manifold may have to be cut in length.
Warning: The ICN Riser Manifold needs to be cut straight and even with the top of the tank. “Measure twice, cut once”.
11: Load clean tank, using supplied funnel - follow proper order
a: Load small heavy box of filter sand/underbed (a “pea gravel” for better water distribution) load all materials
until box is empty.
b: Load all supplied pre-measured GAC media into tank. All replacement kits are pre-measured; therefore use all of
the contents. Note: Top 1/3 of tank should be empty. This is called freeboard
Caution: Media can be dusty. Do not inhale. Work in area with good ventilation and/or take preventative measures.
RE-INSTALLATION OF THE EWS SYSTEM:
12: After media is loaded, Remove the cap or tape from the top of the ICN Riser Manifold.
13: Move tank to its install location and slowly fill with water to expand media.
14: Lubrication: Using Silicone only, Lubricate small O-ring at the bottom center of control valve, where the ICN Riser
Manifold fits up into the valve or if you can’t reach it, then Lubricate the top of the ICN Riser Manifold. Lubricate
the larger O-ring at bottom of control valve, where valve rests on the tank.
15: Re-install the control valve onto the tank by turning clockwise. Be careful not to cross-thread valve onto tank.
16: Re-install bypass or plumbing and drain fitting connections. Correct any previous install errors.
EWS - Removal & Replacement - ICN/GAC Replacement Kits
START-UP PROCEDURES MUST BE FOLLOWED: Use Your Service Guide or Go On-Line @ www.ewswater.com.
WARNING: All systems need to purge air and rinse/flush out new media before use, the same as all new systems.
Check plumbing connections and pressure not to exceed or surge above 65 psi.
Determine the EWS System**** and the proper ICN Riser Manifild and GAC Media Kit for replacement.
Unpack all boxes:
Master carton contains: small riser cap. plastic funnel, small heavy box of filter sand/
underbed, and if applicable a box (or bag) of 0.5 cu. ft. of GAC media.
One or more boxes containing 1.0 cu. ft. of GAC media.
One tube (or long box) containing the ICN Riser Manifold
All instructions assume a correctly plumbed initial installation of the system and enough room to perform any maintenance
