transceiver, and cable. Some tests require loopback plugs. Refer to the Extreme Network OS Management Conguration Guide and the
Extreme Network OS Command Reference for more details about diagnostic tests and commands.
Diagnostic tests run at link speeds of 1 or 10 Gbps depending on the speed of the link being tested and the type of port.
NOTE
Diagnostic tests may temporarily lock the transmit and receive speed of the links during diagnostic testing.
To monitor the transceivers, the show media command output provides transceiver information for all interfaces on the device. Any
unqualied transceiver is disabled and a log message is generated.
Upgrading rmware
Use the ExtremeSwitching Network OS rmware download command to download rmware to the VDX 6740 device. You can
download the rmware from a remote server using the File Transfer Protocol (FTP), SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), Secure Copy
Protocol (SCP), or you can download rmware from an attached Extreme Networks-branded USB device. For procedures to update
rmware, refer to the "Basic rmware upgrade" section of the Extreme Network OS Software Upgrade Guide. For details on command
usage, refer to the Extreme Network OS Command Reference.
At Network OS 7.1 and later, you can update rmware on the VDX 6740T AQ1402 PHY chips. Each of these chips have a on-board
IRAM that can be gang loaded with a rmware image from an external ash chip connected to one of the AQ1402 chips (which is the
master chip).
Use the rmware peripheral-update microcode command to upgrade PHY rmware from a Extreme Networks-branded USB or from
rmware copied to ash memory. For update procedures, refer to the "Updating the peripheral rmware" section of the Extreme Network
OS Software Upgrade Guide. For details on command usage, refer to the Extreme Network OS Command Reference.
