Overview

This document is a user manual for the Faber GV60TT/10 gas fire, intended for various models including Aspect Premium, Relaxed Premium, Duet Premium, and Triple Premium series. It provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the gas fireplace and its remote control system.

Function Description

The Faber GV60TT/10 is a gas-atmosphere heating appliance designed to provide warmth and ambiance. It operates with a remote control unit that allows users to manage various functions, including switching the fire on and off, adjusting flame height, and setting thermostat and timer functions. The system includes a receiver that communicates with the remote control unit and controls the gas block. The appliance is designed to create hot air circulation, which can distribute heat throughout the room.

Usage Features

The GV60TT/10 offers a range of features for user convenience and control:

  • Remote Control Operation: The primary interface for the fire is a remote control unit (Fig. 1.0) equipped with three keys (Fig. 1.3) for all functions. A sound signal from the receiver confirms successful transmission of commands.
  • Switching On/Off: The fire can be switched on by pressing the OFF-key and the small flame key simultaneously until a sound signal is audible (Fig. 1.7). The start-up procedure involves a repetitive sound signal from the receiver, after which the fire automatically starts at the highest position. To switch off, simply press the OFF-key (Fig. 1.7).
  • Flame Height Adjustment: Flame height can be adjusted in several ways:
    • Pressing the big flame button twice in rapid succession sets the fire to the highest position.
    • Holding down the big flame key gradually increases the flame height (Fig. 1.9).
    • Pressing the small flame button twice in rapid succession sets the fire to the lowest position.
    • Holding down the small flame key gradually lowers the flame height or switches it back to the pilot light (Fig. 2.0).
    • For models with a step burner, the flame picture can be concentrated in the middle by pressing SET and the small flame key simultaneously (Fig. 2.1), or divided over the complete length of the burner by pressing SET and the large flame key (Fig. 2.0).
  • *Thermostat Function (TEMP and TEMP): The remote control unit can be set to maintain a desired room temperature.
    • *Day Temperature (TEMP): If this indication is shown, the thermostat ensures the environmental temperature matches the set day temperature.
    • Night Temperature (TEMP): Similarly, this setting ensures the environmental temperature aligns with the set night temperature.
    • The remote control unit should be placed in the supplied wall bracket (Fig. 2.4/2.5/2.6) within 4 meters of the fireplace for optimal thermostat function.
  • Timer Function (TIMER): This "clock thermostat" function allows users to program specific periods for day and night temperatures over a 24-hour cycle. Up to two periods can be set for both day and night temperatures.
  • Manual Operation (MAN): If the MAN indication is shown on the display, the flame position can be adjusted manually using the flame keys (Fig. 1.8 or 1.9). This mode overrides active thermostat and/or timer programs.
  • Temperature/Clock Setting: The display can show temperature in °C/24hours or °F/12hours, which can be toggled by pressing the OFF-key and the small flame key simultaneously (Fig. 1.5). The time can be set by pressing the big flame and small flame keys simultaneously, then using the flame keys to adjust hours (Fig. 1.8) and minutes (Fig. 1.9).
  • Transmitter Code Setting: If the remote control unit loses communication with the receiver, the transmitter code may need to be reset. This involves pressing the reset button on the receiver (Fig. 2.3.1) and then pressing the big flame key on the remote control unit (Fig. 1.9) within 20 seconds.
  • Manual Ignition (for professional craftsmen only): In case of service, the appliance can be manually ignited by a professional craftsman following a specific procedure involving the ignition cable, knobs on the gas block, and a piezo-ignition (Fig. 1.2).

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the safe use and longevity of the Faber gas fire:

  • Professional Installation and Maintenance: Installation and maintenance must be performed by a professional with proven knowledge and competence, considering technical aspects like heat radiation, gas connection, and flue gas exhaust.
  • Regular Cleaning: The device should be cleaned and checked by a qualified specialist. The exterior can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Glass Cleaning: The glass can be removed as described in the installation instructions and cleaned with Faber glass polish. Aggressive cleaning agents or abrasive products should not be used. Fingerprints on the glass should be avoided as they become permanent once the fire is used.
  • Battery Replacement:
    • Remote Control Unit: When "BATT" appears on the display, the 9V MN1604/6LR61 Alkaline battery needs replacement (Fig. 2.2). After replacement, thermostat and timer settings will reset to factory defaults.
    • Receiver: The receiver can run on 4 AA/LR6 Alkaline batteries (Fig. 2.3) or an adapter. Three short sound signals indicate low receiver battery. If the battery supply is very low, the remote control unit will switch off the appliance. The transmitter code may need to be reset after battery replacement.
  • Transport Damage Check: Upon receipt, the fire should be checked for transport damage, and any issues reported immediately to the supplier.
  • Initial Start-up Ventilation: During the first use, extra ventilation is required. All windows in the room should be opened, and the fire should burn at the highest setting for a few hours to allow paint to harden and released vapors to dissipate safely. Vulnerable people and pets should be kept out of the room during this process.
  • Troubleshooting: In case of malfunction, users should first check if knob A is in the ON position (Fig. 1.2), verify battery/mains voltage (section 3.1), and check if the receiver responds to the remote control unit. If necessary, the receiver should be reset, or a new transmitter code set.
