13.4 Operations which must be carried out by manufacturer’s qualified personnel.
Below is a list of all the operations which require technical competence and which must be carried out by
the manufacturer’s qualified personnel:
The user must under no condition :
- replace any seals orgaskets
- replace any electrical components
- open the electrical control panel and intervene on electrical components
- repair any of the transmission mechanics
- dis-assemble and re-assemble the shuttle holder support.

13.5 Problems which can arise with the machine.
Listed below are the reasons for any malfunction of the machine :
Problem:
Irregular stitching
Reason and solution:
- The shoe is not being held in correct position by the operator, who is pulling it to the left, or on the
contrary, is hindering the advance action.
- A stitching passage which has a sharp stop and start due to some obstacle inside the shoe (nail that has
hit the horn point).
- Too much play in the levers or traction plates.
Problem:
Thread breakage.
Reasons and solutions:
- Low quality thread employed.
- Incorrect whirl position.
- Horn thread too taught (loosen with knob n. 2321)
- Needle placed too high or too low.
- Needle size too small for thread employed.
- Damaged needle.
- The smallest whirl hole is used or damaged.
- Scratching on the horn cap surface.
- Scratches on the loop opener hook.
- Scratches in passages of the thread path.
- Too taught resistance for spool unwinding: either the wax is not softened enough because heat is too
low, or spool winding is irregular.
- The needle hits a nail, staple or other foreign matter.
- Incorrect position of loop opener.
- Shoe held incorrectly by the operator.
- Horn not perfectly centered.
Problem:
Missing stitches
Reasons and solutions:
- Needle has hit a nail or other obstacle.
- Whirl position not correct: the needle cannot pick up the thread.
- Whirl and pinion are used , or have damaged cogs and must be replaced.
- Loop opener positioned incorrectly.
- Before the stitching operation, the thread was not pulled to the left.
- The thread was not passed through the small hole in the whirl.
