A routing machine essentially consists of a motor that rotates a cen-
tral shaft ending with a tool chuck at a high speed (30,000 rpm). The
assembly slides vertically on a spring column system to penetrate the
material. Capable of performing various types of woodwork such as
decorative mouldings, grooves, chamfers, etc. Can be used in relatively
homogeneous types of wood such as solid wood, MDF, plywood, etc.,
and, with suit
Ensure that the piece of wood does not contain any metal (nails, screws, etc.)
Start up the machine before starting to work on the piece
The feed must be as regular as possible to avoid marking the wood..
It is recommended to practise on wood chippings in order to learn the machine set-
tings .
The tools attached at the shaft end are mills, they vary in shape and size according to
the work to be carried out.
Some machines are supplied with a copying guide, curve guide, compass guide, etc.,
increasing your machine’s capabilities.
The speed control, if your machine has this equipment, enables you to adapt the speed
to the material you are working with.
Always ensure that the piece you are working with is properly xed so that it does not
vibrate.planing.
As the milling depth increases, the speed should be reduced.
Hold the machine rmly with both hands
It is better to hook your machine up to a vacuum cleaner in order to collect as much
dust as possible
Always work in the direction opposite the direction of rotation of the tool.
Do not force.
