Do you have a question about the Far Tools XF-Saw2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The FARTOOLS XF-Saw2 is a professional reciprocating saw, designed for various cutting tasks. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The XF-Saw2 is a versatile reciprocating saw used for cutting various materials. Its primary function is to provide a powerful and efficient cutting action through a reciprocating blade movement. The device is designed for professional use, offering robust performance and ease of handling.

Key operational steps include:

  1. Blade Installation: To install the blade, turn the chuck a quarter turn to the right (01, Fig. B). While holding the chuck, insert the blade fully (02, Fig. B). Release the chuck to secure the blade in place (03, Fig. B). This quick-change system ensures efficient blade replacement.
  2. Battery Installation and Charging: The device is powered by an 18V Li-ion battery. To install the battery, slide it into the battery compartment until it clicks into place (02, Fig. A). To remove, press the release button and slide the battery out. For charging, connect the charger to a power outlet (01, Fig. A) and then insert the battery into the charger (02, Fig. A). The charging indicator lights will show the charging status. A red light indicates charging, while a green light indicates a full charge. The battery has a power level indicator (TEST button) to check the remaining charge. Charging times vary depending on battery capacity: 1.5 Ah (40:00), 3.0 Ah (80:00), 4.0 Ah (100:00), and 5.0 Ah (120:00).
  3. Operation: To start the saw, first unlock the safety switch (01, Fig. C). Then, press the trigger (02, Fig. C) to activate the blade. The saw features an adjustable shoe (01, Fig. C) that can be moved forward or backward to control the depth of cut and provide stability during operation. The reciprocating action of the blade (03, Fig. C) ensures efficient material removal.

Important Technical Specifications

The XF-Saw2 boasts several key technical specifications that highlight its performance capabilities:

  • Rated Power (Puissance assignée): 18 V. This indicates the nominal voltage of the battery system.
  • No-load Speed (Vitesse à vide): 0-3000 min⁻¹. This variable speed control allows for optimal cutting performance across different materials.
  • Weight (Poids): 1.85 kg. This relatively light weight contributes to user comfort and reduced fatigue during extended use.
  • Stroke Length (Course): 115 mm. This refers to the distance the blade travels during each reciprocating motion, influencing cutting speed and efficiency.
  • Cutting Depth (Profondeur de coupe): 8 mm. This specification indicates the maximum thickness of material the saw can cut.
  • Acoustic Pressure Level (Niveau de pression acoustique LpA): 85.73 dB (A) with an uncertainty of 3 dB.
  • Acoustic Power Level (Niveau de puissance acoustique LWA): 96.73 dB (A) with an uncertainty of 3 dB. These values are determined according to EN 61029-1, ISO 11201, and ISO 3744 standards. Users are advised to use hearing protection.
  • Vibration Level (Niveau de vibration): The total vibration values (vector sum of three directions) determined according to EN 60745 are 13.88 | 17.01 m/s² with an uncertainty (K) of 1.5 m/s². Users are advised to use appropriate hand/arm protection.
  • Protection Class (IPXO): This indicates the device's resistance to ingress of solids and liquids. IPXO means no special protection against water ingress.
  • Compliance: The device conforms to European directives 2014/35/EU, 2006/42/EC, 2011/65/EU, and 2015/863/EU, and standards EN 62841-1:2015, EN 62841-2-11:2016, EN 55014-2:2015, EN 55014-1:2017, and EN 55014-1:2016+A1+A2.

Usage Features

The XF-Saw2 is designed with several features to enhance usability and safety:

  • Variable Speed Trigger: The trigger allows for variable speed control, enabling users to adjust the cutting speed based on the material and application.
  • Adjustable Shoe: The movable shoe provides stability and allows for precise depth control, improving cutting accuracy and reducing blade wear.
  • Quick Blade Change System: The chuck mechanism facilitates fast and tool-free blade changes, minimizing downtime and increasing productivity.
  • Ergonomic Design: The saw's design, including its weight and grip, is optimized for comfortable handling and reduced user fatigue.
  • Battery Indicator: The battery's integrated power level indicator helps users monitor the remaining charge, preventing unexpected interruptions during work.
  • Safety Lock: A safety switch prevents accidental activation of the saw, enhancing user safety.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for extending the lifespan and ensuring the safe operation of the XF-Saw2. The manual emphasizes several key aspects:

  • General Cleaning: Regularly clean the saw to remove dust, debris, and sawdust, which can accumulate and affect performance.
  • Blade Inspection: Before each use, inspect the blade for sharpness, damage, or wear. Replace dull or damaged blades immediately to ensure efficient and safe cutting.
  • Battery Care:
    • Charge the battery fully before first use.
    • Avoid overcharging or deep discharging the battery, as this can reduce its lifespan.
    • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
    • Do not dispose of batteries in household waste; recycle them according to local regulations.
  • Recycling: The manual highlights the importance of recycling the tool, accessories, and packaging in accordance with European directives 2012/19/UE and 2006/66/CE. Components should be separated and collected for proper disposal or recycling at designated waste collection points.
  • Authorized Service: For any repairs or complex maintenance, it is recommended to contact authorized service personnel to ensure the integrity of the device and maintain warranty validity. Unauthorized interventions or negligence can void the warranty.

Safety Recommendations

The manual strongly advises users to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during operation:

  • Safety Glasses (Porter des lunettes de sécurité): Essential for protecting eyes from flying debris.
  • Dust Mask (Porter un masque anti-poussière): Recommended to prevent inhalation of dust particles, especially when cutting materials that generate fine dust.
  • Hearing Protection (Porter une protection auditive): Crucial for protecting ears from high noise levels generated by the saw.
  • Gloves (Porter des gants): Advised for protecting hands from cuts, abrasions, and vibrations.

Adhering to these safety guidelines and maintenance practices will ensure the safe and efficient use of the FARTOOLS XF-Saw2 reciprocating saw.
