D.2 Seed and Fertilizer Loading
The seed and fertilizer gears on your grain drill are
manufactured to have same structure and sensitivity
and hence the seed and fertilizer boxes are capable of
doing each other’s tasks.
About 1/3 of the seeding box is reserved for
fertilizer and the remaining 2/3 is reserved for
seed.
The possibility of filling fertilizer in the seed partition
and seed in the fertilizer partition is a significant
advantage in seeding operations where greater amount
of fertilizer is spread than the seed and thus low
amount of seed is used especially for clover, canola,
sesame and spinach.
During such seeding operations, seeding can be
finished with less amount of loading and hence
interruption if seed is filled in the fertilizer box having a
volume of 1/3 and fertilizer in the seed box having a
volume of 2/3.
The platform height of your grain drill was determined
by taking the average height of the 2-4 wheeled trailers
as reference, which is frequently used in our country.
Following procedure steps are followed when seed and
fertilizer will be loaded over trailer:
1.
Step: Open an appropriate side wing (cover) of
the trailer.
2.
Step: Lift the coulters from the ground about
by 5-6 cm.
3.
Step: Approach the open trailer cover with the grain
drill with right angle and reversely.
CAUTION There is risk for the trailer’s open cover to hit
the coulters. Observe the distance between the coulters
and the cover when approaching.
4.
Step: Park the loading platforms of the grain drill
closest to the trailer as possible.
Note: With this approach, accessing the
loading platforms over the trailer will be very
convenient.
5.
Step: Open the automatic cover and start seed
and fertilizer loading.
