2.0 INSTALLING THE IDU
2.1 WHEN MOUNTING THE IDU ON A 7200 SERIES MOUNTING PLATE:
A. Remove the Addressable Interface Unit (IDU) from its ESD envelope, being certain to use static protection.
B. The plastic and hex standoffs supplied must be attached to the backplate prior to fastening the unit. Hex
standoffs are mounted into the threaded holes, non-locking standoffs are snapped into the holes in the central
part of the unit, and locking standoffs snap into the holes at the edges of the unit. Route the power cable (rd,
blk, yel, gry) from J7 of the previous unit underneath this unit. Then snap the unit onto the plastic standoffs. The
two holes located at the upper left and lower right corners of the unit are fastened by screws into the hex
standoffs. See Figure 1.
C. Connect the 4-wire power cable (rd, blk, yel, gry) from J7 of the previous unit into J7 of the IDU. (J7 is lo-
cated at the lower right corner of the IDU) Additional connectors are connected to J7 of any additional units.
D. Route the 14-conductor FCINET
®
communication harness from J4 of the previous unit above the IDU and
connect it to J4 of the IDU. (J4 is located at the upper left corner of the IDU). The remaining connectors are con-
nected to J4 of any additional units.
E. Plug the furnished 8-position terminal block Into TB1, located on the right side of the unit, if not already in-
stalled.
F. Set the Address Switch SW1 to the proper position. Address “0" is an invalid address.
CAUTION: This equipment is sensitive to static electricity. It may be damaged if not properly handled. Use an
ESD (electrostatic discharge) field service kit (FCI Part No. 4100-0001), consisting of a
grounding wrist strap and anti-static mat, when handling this equipment. Transport this unit in a
static-shielding bag.
Failure to observe this requirement could cause latent damage to the equipment which might not
manifest itself until after the equipment is placed in service.
CAUTION: Remove all sources of power before removing or installing any units.
