Overview

The Fisher-Price "Newborn-to-Toddler Portable High Chair" is a versatile seating solution designed to adapt to a child's growth from infancy through toddlerhood. It functions as a high chair for feeding, a booster seat for older children, and a portable seat for various stages of development.

Function Description:

The device serves multiple functions:

  • Newborn Reclining Seat: Provides a comfortable and secure reclining position for newborns, allowing them to be part of family mealtimes or simply relax nearby. This mode typically includes a soft pad and a secure harness system.
  • Infant High Chair: As the child grows, the seat transitions into a traditional high chair for feeding. It features a tray for food and toys, a secure harness, and adjustable height and recline settings to accommodate the infant's size and comfort.
  • Toddler Booster Seat: For older toddlers, the high chair can convert into a booster seat that can be strapped to an adult dining chair. This allows the toddler to sit at the table with the family without needing the full high chair frame.
  • Portable Seat: The design emphasizes portability, allowing the seat to be easily moved between rooms or taken along for travel.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual indicates compatibility with various models: CLR36, CLR37, CLR38, CLR39, CLR40, CLR41, DKR70, DKR71, DTC16. While specific dimensions and weight limits are not explicitly stated in the provided pages, the design suggests a robust construction capable of supporting infants and toddlers.

Key components include:

  • Seat Base: The main structural element that supports the seat.
  • Seat Bottom: The lower part of the seat, which attaches to the base.
  • Pad/Almohadilla: A soft, removable cushion for comfort and support.
  • Tray/Bandeja: A removable tray for feeding and play.
  • Cross Brace/Barra Transversal: A structural component that provides stability.
  • Restraint System/Sistema de Sujeción: Includes shoulder belts, waist belts, and a crotch belt to secure the child. The shoulder belts are adjustable for different heights.
  • Seat Back with Restraint System/Respaldo con Sistema de Sujeción: The backrest of the seat, integrated with the harness.
  • Seat Bottom with Restraint System/Asiento con Sistema de Sujeción: The seat base with the integrated harness.
  • Armrests/Reposabrazos: Supports for the child's arms, also serving as attachment points for the tray.
  • Fasteners: Screws and other hardware for assembly.

Usage Features:

The high chair offers several adjustable features to ensure comfort and safety:

  • Adjusting Seat Height: The seat height can be adjusted by pressing buttons on both sides of the seat bottom and lifting or lowering the seat. A "click" indicates that the seat is securely locked in place.
  • Adjusting Seat Recline: The seat recline can be adjusted by pulling a handle on the back of the seat and moving the seat to the desired position. Pushing on the seat back ensures it is secure.
  • Attaching to a Chair (Booster Mode): The booster seat can be attached to an adult chair using two sets of straps:
    • Bottom Straps: Wrap around the bottom of the adult chair and buckle.
    • Back Straps: Wrap around the back of the adult chair and buckle.
    • A "click" confirms that the straps are securely fastened.
  • Secure Child (Harness System): The child is secured using a 5-point harness system:
    • Crotch Belt: Placed between the child's legs.
    • Waist Belts: Threaded through slots and buckled into the crotch belt.
    • Shoulder Belts: Threaded through slots in the seat back and buckled into the waist belts.
    • The harness is adjustable for a snug fit, and a "click" confirms secure buckling. The shoulder straps can be adjusted for height.
  • Tray Use and Care: The tray latches onto the armrests and can be pulled forward or backward for adjustment, or fully removed.
  • Convert to Booster Seat: The high chair easily converts to a booster seat by removing the pad and the seat back, and then attaching the remaining seat to an adult chair using the shoulder straps and pad.
  • Assembly: The manual provides detailed instructions for assembling the high chair, including attaching the seat bottom to the base, securing the cross brace, adjusting the recline, and installing the pad and harness system. It emphasizes ensuring all parts "click" into place and are securely fastened.

Maintenance Features:

The product is designed for easy cleaning and maintenance:

  • Pad and Restraint System Care:
    • The pad and restraint system are machine washable. It is recommended to place them in a pillowcase and wash them with cold water on the gentle cycle. Line drying is advised.
    • Bleach should not be used.
    • To remove the pad and restraint system, buckle the restraint system, unfasten the pad hooks from the front edge of the seat, and push the folded end of each restraint belt back through the slots.
    • To re-install, reverse the removal steps, ensuring all five belts are secure.
  • Tray Care: The tray is top-rack dishwasher safe. Alternatively, it can be washed by hand with soap and water.
  • General Cleaning: The seat can be wiped clean with a mild cleaning solution and damp cloth. Abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals should not be used.
  • Periodic Inspection: Regularly inspect the product for damaged hardware, loose joints, missing parts, or sharp edges. Do not use the product if any parts are missing, damaged, or broken. Do not use accessories or replacement parts other than those approved by the manufacturer.

The manual includes critical safety warnings in both English and Spanish:

  • Prevent serious injury or death from sliding out, falls, or tipping over.
  • Always secure the child with the restraint system adjusted to fit the child snugly.
  • The tray is not designed to hold the child in the product.
  • Use the restraint system until the child is able to get in and out of the product without help (about 2 ½ years old).
