LIGHTING AND OPERATION
CAUTION
Ti
pping the gas cylinder more than 60 degrees from its upright position may cause torch to flare. The torch has a built-
in regulator that controls pressure and reduces the risk of pulsating or yellow flames when used other than upright. It is
recommended to start working with a hand torch cylinder at room temperature and to keep torch upright as much as
possible.
1. For models FK8500CGA and FK-028CGA, open regulator valve fully by turning flame adjustment knob (1) counter
clockwise until it stops. Do not force. Always fully open valve when lighting to prevent damage to ignition system. (Except
FK4500CGA, that does not include a flame adjustment knob.) Never look into the burner tube (4) or point in unsafe
direction.
2. Turn ignition button (2) to UNLOCK position. For item FK-028CGA slide the Safety Lock (5) to unlocked position.
3. Point the torch in a safe direction and pull ignition button (2) toward you. Repeat if necessary. Keep ignition button
depressed and adjust the flame size by turning the flame regulating knob (1). (Except FK4500CGA, that does not include a
flame adjustment knob.). When ignition button (2) is released the flame is automatically extinguished.
TO ENGAGE FLAME LOCK FEATURE
1. While ignition bu
tton (2) is depressed, press flame lock button (3).
2. To release flame lock, pull ignition button (2) until flame lock button (3) releases.
3. After flame is extinguished, turn ignition button to LOCKED position. For item FK-028CGA slide the Safety Lock (5) to
locked position.
AFTER USE
1. Return the ignition button (2) to LOCKED position. For item FK-028CGA slide the Safety Lock (5) to locked position.
2. Make sure the regulator valve is closed by turning flame adjustment knob (1) fully clockwise until it stops. Do not
force.(Except FK4500CGA.)
3. Remove cylinder from torch when not in use.
4. With the torch disconnected from the cylinder, point torch in a safe direction and pull ignition button (2) to release gas in the
torch
ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
• Make sure the torch is cool before installing or removing cylinder and accessories. Using the torch with a low flame can
cause damage to the burn tube and ignition system.
• Check all joints and couplings periodically to insure against loose connections. With valve open, without lighting, test all
connections with soapy water. If bubbles appear, gas is leaking and torch must be repaired or replaced. NEVER USE A
FLAME TO CHECK FOR LEAKS. Make this test in a well ventilated and spark-free area and where there are no open flames.
• In cold weather the size of the flame will be smaller. To produce a larger flame, pre-warm the cylinder to room
temperature prior to use.
