PINPOINT TEST C: THE MESSAGE CENTER IS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY
PINPOINT TEST D: THE MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
RECONNECT the instrument cluster and the compass sensor module. GO to B5 .
No
REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
B5 CHECK THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DISPLAY
Select the compass/outside temperature display. Observe the message center display.
Is the outside temperature display operating correctly?
Yes
INSTALL a new compass sensor module. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No
GO to Pinpoint Test E.

C1 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ODOMETER OPERATION
Observe the odometer display in the instrument cluster.
Is the odometer displayed?
Yes
GO to C2.
No
REFER toSection 413-01.
C2 CHECK THE RIGHT DIGITAL MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY OPERATION
MCM Active Command
Select the MCM MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY CHARACTER active command. Trigger SEGMENTS active command ON.
Observe the right digital message center display.
Does the message center display illuminate all segments?
Yes
The system is OK. If the SELECT or RESET buttons are inoperative, GO to Pinpoint Test D.
No
GO to C3.
C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
Check for:
corrosion
pushed-out pins
Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER toSection 413-01.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
