ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature)
• The ECT sensor is a two (2) wire thermistor sensor.
• The ECT sensor’s internal thermistor forms a voltage
divider with a pullup resistor inside the ECM.
• The ECT sensor changes resistance when
exposed to different temperatures.
• When the temperature of the coolant decreases,
the resistance of the thermistor increases
and the signal voltage increases.
• When the temperature of the coolant increases,
the resistance of the thermistor decreases
and the signal voltage decreases.
