Automatic Main Beam Control
Depending on the vehicle equipment level,
Automatic Main Beam Control may be
available → page 112.
WARNING
Using the high beam incorrectly can dis-
tra
ct and dazzle other road users. This
could cause accidents and serious or fatal
injuries.
·
Use high beam only if other road users
cannot be distracted or dazzled.
Automatic Main Beam Control
(
Adaptive Headlamps)
Automatic Main Beam Control automati-
cally dips the headlamps when oncoming
vehicles and vehicles driving in front are de-
tected. Automatic Main Beam Control also
recognises illuminated areas such as towns
and deactivates the high beam while driv-
ing through them.
Within the limits of the system, the high
beam is automatically switched on or o
depending on ambient and trac condi-
tions and on the driving speed →
.
Depending on the vehicle equipment level,
A
utomatic Main Beam Control can be acti-
vated and deactivated in the vehicle set-
tings in the Infotainment system
→ pa

3.
Tap the direction indicator and high
beam lever forwards twice from its ba-
sic position.
The
indicator lamp in the instrument
cluster displa

Switching o Automatic Main Beam
Control
1. Switch o automatic lighting con-

Or: if A
utomatic Main Beam Control is
switched on and active, pull back the
direction indicator and high beam lever.
Or: if Automatic Main Beam Control is

Manual high beam is now switched on.
To switch o manual high beam, pull
the direction indicator and high beam
lever backwards.
Or: switch o the ignition.
System limitations
The high beam must be manually switched
o under the following conditions, as it is
not switched o by Automatic Main Beam
Control in time or at all:
— In poorly lit streets where there are high-
ly-reflective signs.
— When encountering other road users with
insucient lighting, such as pedestrians
or cyclists.
— In the case of crossing trac at right-an-
gled junctions.
— In tight bends, brows of hills or depres-
sions in the land or half-hidden oncoming
trac.
