Troubleshooting
C
ooling mode
or the heater cannot
be s
witched on or operation is restric-
ted
Cooling mode
works only when the en-
gine is running and a
t ambient tempera-
tures above +3°C (+38°F).
The heating and defrost function are more
eective when the engine is warm.
When the engine is very hot and in extreme
outside temperatures, operation of cooling
mode
, the heating and the defrost func-
tion ma
y be restricted.
Switch on the blower.
Check the fuse of the Climate Control
system page 314.
Replace the enhanced air filter with acti-
vated carbon.
If the fault persists, go to a suitably quali-
fied workshop.
NOTICE
If the Climate Control system is not working
and is nevertheless still opera
ted, this can
cause secondary damage.
·
If the Climate Control system does not
cool or heat the air, switch it o immedi-
ately.
·
Have the Climate Control system
checked by a suitably qualified work-
shop.
Condensation on the windows
C
ondensation forms on the windows if they
are colder than the ambient temperature
and the air is very humid. Cold air can ab-
sorb less moisture than warm air, which is
why condensation frequently forms on win-
dows in c
old weather.
1. Keep the air intake in front of the wind-
screen free from ice, snow and leaves
to improve the heating or cooling out-
put page 383.
2. Do not cover the air vents in the rear of
the load compartment so that air can
flow through the vehicle from the front
to the rear.
3. Switch on the defrost function
page 129.
The wrong unit of temperature has
been set
You can change the unit of measurement
for all temperature displays in the vehicle
using the Infotainment system.
1. Tap the
menu button.
2.
Open the Settings menu.
3. Select the Units menu option.
Water or water vapour under the vehicle
If the humidity and temperature outside
the vehicle are high, condensation can drip
o the evaporator in the cooling system
and form a pool underneath the vehicle.
This is normal and does not indicate a leak.
If the outside humidity is high and the out-
side temperature low, condensation may
evaporate when the auxiliary heater is run-
ning. If this is the case, steam may appear
underneath the vehicle. The vehicle is not
damaged.
The auxiliary heater cannot be switched
on
When the vehicle is at a standstill, the aux-
iliary heater can be switched on up to three
times in succession for the maximum oper-
ating duration.
If you park on a downhill slope with very lit-
tle fuel in the tank when the fill level is just
above reserve level, the fuel gauge may be
inaccurate and lead to functional restric-
tions of the auxiliary heater.
