tended period or at high speed with the
engine switched o and in gear selector
position N, e.g. when being towed.
NOTICE
If the transmission becomes too hot or
overhea
ts, this can lead to increased wear
or damage to the component.

Avoid moving-o operations and driving
at walking pace as long as the transmis-
sion is overheated.
·
Drive faster than around 20 km/h
(around 12 mph) or park the vehicle in
a safe place immediately when a warning
is displayed for the first time indicating
that the transmission has overheated.
·
Park the vehicle in a safe place immedi-
ately and switch o the engine if the text
message and acoustic warning are re-
peated around every 10 seconds.
·
Allow the transmission to cool down.
·
Continue driving only when the acoustic
warning is no longer emitted.

he Auto StartStop system automatically
switches the engine o when the vehicle is
coming to a stop and when stationary.
When required, the engine restarts auto-
matically.
Indicator lamps
If the
indicator lamp lights up, the Auto
S
tartStop system is available and auto-
matic engine stop is active.
The Auto StartStop system is not available
if the
indicator lamp lights up → .

witching on Auto StartStop
The function is automatically activated ev-
ery time the ignition is switched on.
Vehicles with a manual gearbox:
1. Disengage the gear and release the
clutch pedal when the vehicle is coming
to a stop, or when it is stationary. The
engine is stopped.
2. Depress the clutch pedal to restart the
engine.
Vehicles with automatic transmission:
1. To stop, press and hold the brake pedal.
The engine switches o shortly before
the vehicle reaches a complete stand-
still or when the vehicle is stationary.
2. Take your foot o the brake pedal or
depress the accelerator to restart the
engine.
Important preconditions for automatic
engine switch-o
— The driver is wearing their seat belt.
— The driver door is closed.
— The bonnet is closed.
— Engine minimum temperature has been
reached.
— The temperature of the vehicle interior is
within the preset temperature range, and
the humidity level is not too high.
— The defrost function of the Climate Con-
trol system is not switched on.
— The charge level of the 12-volt vehicle
battery is sucient.
— The temperature of the 12-volt vehicle
battery is not too low or too high.
— The vehicle is not on a steep incline.
— The steering wheel is not turned too
sharply.
— The windscreen heating is not switched
on.
