Limits
Junction Assist is available only if you have
activated the direction indicator and turned
the steering wheel to start the turning ma-
noeuvre. However, aer changing from
right-hand driving to le-hand driving or
vice versa, Junction Assist is only available
aer 30 minutes or more.
Junction Assist does not react to persons,
animals, crossing vehicles or objects that
are not detected as a vehicle. Always also
observe the fundamental system limits of
the Automatic Emergency Braking system
→ page 181.
Using the Automatic Emergency
Br
aking system
Please refer to at the start of the

er on page 179.
The Automatic Emergency Braking system
and all equipment- and country-specific
functions are automatically switched on
when you switch on the ignition.
However, Automatic Emergency
Braking is not available or only parti-
ally available as long as the white in-
dicator lamp is lit up.
We recommend that the Automatic Emer-
gency Braking system and all equipment-
and country-specific included functions are
switched on at all times. Exceptions:
→ page 181.
Switching on and o
You can switch Automatic Emergency
Braking on and o manually when the vehi-
cle is stationary.
In the Infotainment system:
1. Open the Assist systems menu.
2. Switch the Automatic Emergency Brak-
ing system on or o in the correspond-
ing submenu.
If you switch o Automatic Emergen-
cy Braking, all the included equip-
ment- and country-specific functions
are also switched o. The yellow indi-
cator lamp lights up in the instrument
cluster display.
The yellow indicator lamp also lights up if
A
utomatic Emergency Braking has been
automatically deactivated, e.g. because
towing of the vehicle has been detected.
Setting
If Automatic Emergency Braking is switch-
ed on, you can adjust the following settings
in the Assist systems menu of the Infotain-
ment system:
— Switch the distance warning on and o;
initially always set corresponding to your
previous journey.
— Switch Evasive Steer Assist on and o.
— Switch Junction Assist on and o.

Automatic Emergency Braking

tarting up
The indicator lamp lights up white.
— The Automatic Emergency Braking sys-
tem is temporarily not available or only
available to a limited extent. The Auto-
matic Emergency Braking system is
available aer driving straight ahead for
a short time, and the indicator lamp goes
out. When the vehicle is not moving, the
indicator lamp lights up continuously.
Automatic Emergency Braking not
a
vailable or functions restricted
The indicator lamp lights up yellow and
a text messa
ge is also displayed.
— The radar sensor or camera window is
dirty. Clean the radar sensor and wind-
screen → page 383.
— The view of the radar sensor or camera is
impaired due to the weather conditions,
e.g. snow, or due to detergent deposits or
coatings. Clean the radar sensor and
windscreen → page 383.
— The radar sensor’s range is obstructed by
add-on parts, trim frame for licence plate
holders or stickers. Keep the area around
the radar sensor clear → page 389.
