vated only when you release the

his makes pulling away with a heavy trail-
er load easier.
Automatic transmission: the electric parking
brake can make it easier to pull away on
steep inclines, so it should be applied man-
ually by pressing the
button before pull-
ing a
way. Apply the accelerator gradually
when pulling away.
Automatic switch-on of the electric
parking brake if the driver does not
leave the vehicle correctly
The electric parking brake may switch on
automatically if the system detects that
you have not le the vehicle correctly
.

Automatic switch-on of the electric
parking brake in vehicles with a manual
gearbox
If the function is activated in the vehicle
settings of the Infotainment system
page 34, the electric parking brake is
switched on automatically when the igni-
tion is switched o.
The electric parking brake is not switched
on automatically if the engine is running
and the vehicle is le incorrectly

WARNING
If the vehicle is not parked properly it can
roll a
way even on a slight gradient. This
can result in accidents and serious or fatal
injuries.

Before lea
ving the vehicle, make sure
that the electric parking brake is
switched on and that the indicator
lamp
lights up red on the instrument
cluster when the ignition is switched
o.

lways follow the described sequence
when parking the vehicle.
Deactivating the roll-away protection
The automatic activation of the electric
parking brake when leaving the vehicle can
be temporarily deactivated. The electric
parking brake is not applied and the vehicle
is still able to roll, e.g. in a car wash or for
towing away .

ehicle is stationary.
Ignition is switched on.
Electric parking brake is not switched
on.
1. Depress the brake pedal.
2.
Put the gearbox into neutral
.
3. C
onfirm the text message The roll-
away protection will be deactivated. in
the Infotainment system.
The roll-away protection can also be deac-
tivated in the vehicle settings in the Info-
tainment system.
Reactivating the roll-away protection:
1. Depress the brake pedal.
2. Engage a selector lever position.
The roll-away protection is activated
and the vehicle is ready to drive.
Or: switch o the ignition.
The roll-away protection is activated.
NOTICE
If the electric parking brake is automatically
switched on in an automatic car wash or
when towing away, the vehicle may be
damaged.

Deactivate the roll-away protection in
the Infotainment system.
