Exit warning system
If other road users approach from be-
hind, the exit warning system warns
about ob
stacles when the doors are
opened.
How the system works
Fig. 124 In the exterior mirror housing: Dis-
pla
y of the exit warning system (illustration).
Radar sensors behind the rear bumper cov-
er monitor the area behind the vehicle. If
the vehicle is approached by cyclists, for
example, the indicator lamps in the exterior
mirror housing light up yellow → Fig. 124.
When a door is opened, the indicator lamps
first flash briefly and an acoustic warning
sounds →
.
WARNING
The exit warning system is not a substi-
tute for the full a
ttention of the driver and
operates only within the limits of the sys-
tem. In the case of stationary, slow mov-
ing or very quickly approaching objects,
the display may not light up or may not
light up in time. If you do not pay due at-
tention, there is a risk of accidents and se-
rious injuries.
·
Always remain alert and do not rely
solely on the system. The driver is al-
ways responsible for all driving tasks.
