Relling with a pump nozzle
The AdBlue
®
tank can be refilled at all
AdBlue
®
pumps.
Do not fill fuel and AdBlue
®
at the same
time.
The AdBlue
®
nozzle functions in the same
way as a fuel nozzle.
1. In order to guarantee optimum refuel-
ling, hold the AdBlue
®
nozzle so that
the handle is facing downwards

Preparing for continuing the journey
1.
Screw in the tank cap of the AdBlue
®
filler neck until it engages.
2. Close the tank flap.
3. Switch on the ignition for at least
30 seconds so that AdBlue
®
refilling
can be detected by the system
→ page 145.
4. Start the engine.
If refilling is not detec
ted, switch o the ig-
nition and wait for around 2 minutes.
Switch on the ignition again for at least
30 seconds so that the system is able to
detect refilling. Start the engine.
CAUTION
Opening the le sliding door c
an cause in-
juries and damage the vehicle.

Make sure that the tank flap is closed
before opening the sliding door.
NOTICE
Overfilling with A
dBlue
®
can damage the
tank system and vehicle.

Do not refill with more than the maxi-
mum refilling quantity indicated on the
instrument cluster display.

Remove any spilled AdBlue
®
as quickly
as possible with a damp cloth and plenty
of cold water.
·
Remove any crystallised AdBlue
®
with
warm water and a sponge.
The refill bottle must be disposed of in
a
ccordance with regulations govern-
ing the protection of the environment.
A smell may be produced when refill-
ing with an AdBlue
®
pump nozzle.
Suitable AdBlue
®
refill bottles are
available from a suitably qualified
workshop.

Selective catalytic reduction
s
ystem fault
The warning lamps light up red.
A text message may also be displayed.
There is a fault in the selective catalytic re-
duction system or the system is not filled
with standard-compliant AdBlue
®
. It is
therefore no longer possible to restart the
engine.
