Information displays on the digi-
tal ins
trument cluster
Possible displays in the main display
area of the digital instrument cluster
The main displays depend on the vehicle
equipment and may display dierent infor-
mation for the respective equipment
→ page 27:
— Outside temperature display.
— Recognised trac signs of the Advanced
Trac Sign Display function.
— Driver assistance systems → page 165.
— Gear-change indicator → page 160.
— Open doors, bonnet and boot lid.
— Speed warning for winter tyres.
— Maximum speed limit.
— Infotainment system information.
— Radiator fan run-on.
— Engine code (EC).
— Range → page 31.

Outside temperature display
If the outside temperature falls below ap-
proximately +4°C (around +39°F), the
temperature display also shows a snow-
flake symbol
. This symbol remains lit un-
til the outside temperature rises
above +6°C (+43°F).
In the following situations, the temperature
displayed may be higher than the actual
outside temperature as a result of the heat
radiated from the engine.
— When the vehicle is stationary.
— When the auxiliary heater is being used.
— When travelling at very low speeds.
The measuring range is between -45°C
(-49°F) and +76°C (+169°F).
WARNING
Roads may be icy at low outside temper-
a
tures, also above freezing. There is an in-
creased risk of accidents on icy roads.
This can result in serious or fatal injuries.
·
Drive with particular care if the
sym-
bol is displa
yed on the instrument clus-
ter display.
·
Always adapt your speed and driving
style to the current visibility, weather
and road or trac conditions.
·
Never rely only on the outside tempera-
ture display.
Gear-change indicator
W
hile the vehicle is in motion, the gear-
change indicator may show which gear
should be selected to reduce fuel con-
sumption → page 160.
Open doors, bonnet and boot lid
The digital instrument cluster indicates if
any doors, the bonnet or boot lid are open
once the vehicle has been unlocked and
while the vehicle is in motion. In some ca-
ses, an acoustic warning is also given.
Speed warning for winter tyres
A display in the digital instrument cluster
indicates when you have exceeded the set
maximum speed.
Speed warning settings can be adjusted in
the vehicle settings in the Infotainment
system.
Maximum speed limit
The customer-specific maximum speed
limit limits the vehicle speed to a fixed
maximum speed that cannot be exceeded.
This maximum speed can be set only by
a suitably qualified workshop.
When you start the engine with a set maxi-
mum speed limit, the
indicator lamp is
displa
yed on the instrument cluster. The
set maximum speed is also displayed in
a text message.
WARNING
A set maximum speed limit can make
overtaking more dic
ult. This can cause
accidents and serious or fatal injuries.
