The small arrow next to the petrol
pump symbol in the fuel gauge shows
you the side of the vehicle on which the
tank flap is located.
Troubleshooting
Fuel tank almost empty
The indicator lamp lights up yellow. The re-
serve volume (red marking) is being c
on-
sumed .
1. Refuel at the next opportunity
→ page 297.
Depending on equipment: when the
indi-
c
ator lamp lights up, the auxiliary heater
and the fuel-powered supplementary heat-
er switch o automatically.
Water in the diesel
The indicator lamp lights up yellow.
1.
Reduce speed immediately and go to
a suitably qualified workshop.
Or: if the indicator lamp lights up im-
mediately aer refuelling,
do not
drive on! S
witch o the engine and
seek expert assistance immediately.
WARNING
When the fuel level is too low, the fuel
supply to the engine c
ould be irregular
and lead to the engine stuttering or
switching o, especially when driving up
or down hills and inclines. The steering, all
driver assist systems and brake support
systems will not function if the engine
stops due to a la
ck of fuel or irregular fuel
supply. This can cause breakdowns in
trac, accidents and serious or fatal inju-
ries.
·
Check that the fuel tank is always su-
ciently filled.
·
Always refuel if the fuel tank is only 1/4
full.
NOTICE
Irregular fuel supply can cause misfiring
and allow unburnt fuel to enter the exha
ust
system.
·
Never run the fuel tank completely dry.
Coolant temperature display
Digital coolant temperature dis-
play
The coolant temperature display can be
displayed in the secondary displays on the
digital instrument cluster.
If the indicator lamp flashes red, the
coolant temperature is too high or the cool-
ant level is too low → page 336.
Driving data display
T
he multifunction display (driving data dis-
play) shows driving and fuel consumption
data (e.g. driving time, distance travelled).
Several driving data views are available in
the secondary display area.
Dierent driving data can be selected de-
pending on the vehicle equipment level.
The driving data displayed depend on the
current driving behaviour, the vehicle sta-
tus, e.g. particulate filter regeneration, and
the current driving situation, e.g. urban traf-
fic. The driving data is calculated as an
average value over sections of varying
length. Consequently, the value currently
displayed may dier from the actual aver-
age value.
