The driver is distracted.
The Driver Alert system has been de-
veloped for use only when driving on
motorways and good main roads.
Microsleep
No urgent warning is issued for microsleep.
Resetting Driver Alert
The Driver Alert system is reset in the fol-
lowing situations:
The ignition is switched o.
The driver seat belt is unfastened and the
driver door is open.
The vehicle has been stationary for lon-
ger than approximately 30 minutes.
Driving with Driver Alert
Please refer to at the start of the
chapt
er on page 35.
Switching on and o
Depending on the country, Driver Alert is al-
ways switched on when the engine is star-
ted. If required, you can switch o Driver
Alert manually in the Infotainment system.
If required, you can switch o Driver Alert
manually in the Infotainment system:
1. Open the Assist systems menu.
2. Switch Driver Alert on or o in the corre-
sponding submenu.
Adjusting the sensitivity
You can adjust the sensitivity of the Driver
Alert system manually and therefore influ-
ence how quickly the system reacts to your
driving behaviour.
In the Infotainment system:
1. Open the Assist systems menu.
2. Open Driver Alert.
3. Select sensitivity in the S
ensitivity sub-
menu.
Hiding messages via the multifunction
steering wheel
1. Press the
button on the multifunc-
tion steering wheel.
Warning levels of Driver Alert
Please refer to at the start of the
chapt
er on page 35.
If the system detects that the driver is tired,
it provides a visual indication of this on the
instrument cluster display by means of
a warning or indicator lamp in combination
with a supplementary text message and an
acoustic warning. A warning is issued in
three levels.
Driver Alert – Level 1
The system has detected that the
driver is starting to become tired.
An acoustic warning sounds. A white
indicator lamp appears together with
a text message on the instrument
cluster display. Consider taking
a break.
Driver Alert – Level 2
Advancing fatigue detected.
An acoustic warning sounds. A red
warning lamp appears together with
a text message on the instrument
cluster display. Consider taking
a break soon.
Driver Alert – Level 3
Acute risk detected.
An acoustic warning sounds. A red
warning lamp appears together with
a text message on the instrument
cluster display. Acute risk to trac.
Stop your journey as quickly as possi-
ble and drive as a matter of urgency
to the nearest place where it is possi-
ble to take a break.
