of the driver.
A white indicator lamp appears to-
gether with a text message on the in-
strument cluster display. Consider
taking a break.

Driver Alert availability is restricted
An acoustic warning sounds. A yellow indi-

message on the instrument cluster display.
The availability of the Driver Alert is restric-
ted.
— Fault or malfunction. Switch o and re-
start the engine.
— If the problem persists, go to a suitably
qualified workshop.
Driver Alert is not available
An a
coustic warning sounds. A yellow indi-
cator lamp appears in combination with
the yellow central warning lamp. A text
message is also displayed on the instru-
ment cluster display and in the Vehicle sta-
tus menu.
— Fault or malfunction. Switch o and re-
start the engine. Check the settings for
Driver Alert in the Infotainment system.
— The system limits have been exceeded.
— If the problem persists, go to a suitably
qualified workshop.
Driver Attention Monitor

The Driver Attention Monitor informs
the driver if their driving beha
viour indi-
cates a lack of attention on the basis of
the vehicle-related operating inputs.
The Driver Attention Monitor evaluates the
driver’s vehicle-related operating inputs in
order to establish whether the driver is dis-
tracted. If the system detects that the driv-
er is distracted, it indicates this on the in-
strument cluster display by means of
a warning or indicator lamp in combination
with a supplementary text message and,
depending on the settings, also issues an
acoustic warning → page 38. The text
message on the instrument cluster display
is shown for around 4 to 6 seconds.
Function conditions
The driving behaviour can be evaluated on-
ly when the speed is above approx.
10 km/h (around 6 mph).
WARNING
The Driver Attention Monitor is not a sub-
stitute for the full a
ttention of the driver
and operates only within the limits of the
system. The Driver Attention Monitor
therefore may not be able to detect
whether the driver is paying attention in
all situations and may not react or may
react with a delay or in an undesired way.
There is a risk of accidents and serious or
even fatal injuries.
