data and restrict the functionality of safe-
ty-related systems.

connect devices to the diagnostic con-
nection.
We respect and protect your privacy. The
informa
tion contained in this publication
was correct at the time of release; however,
as technology evolves rapidly, we recom-
mend that you visit your country’s Ford

Your vehicle is equipped with electronic
control units that have data acquisition
functions and the ability to permanently or
temporarily store data. This data may in-
clude information about the condition and
status of your vehicle as well as mainte-
nance requirements, events and malfunc-
tions. This section describes the types of
data that can be collected. Some of the
collected data is stored in event or error
logs.
Error logs are deleted aer mainte-
nance or repair.
We may provide information at the re-
quest of law enforcement authorities,
other authorities or third parties who have
a legal authority or are taking legal action.
This information may be used by the re-
spective requester in legal proceedings.
The data collected includes, but is not limi-
ted to, the following:
Operating states of system components,
e.g. fuel fill level, tyre pressure and bat-
tery charge level.
Vehicle and component status,
e.g. wheel speed, deceleration, lateral ac-
celeration and seat belt status.
Events or faults in important systems,
e.g. hea
dlights and brakes.
System reactions to driving situations,
e.g. deployment of airbags and stability
control.
Environmental conditions, e.g. tempera-
ture.
Some of this data can be assigned to spe-
cific persons in combination with other in-
formation, e.g. an accident report, damage
to the vehicle or witness statements.
Services provided by us
When you use our services, we collect and
use data that could identify you, e.g. ac-
count information, location and vehicle
handling. We transmit this data via a dedi-
cated, secure connection. We collect and
use the data exclusively to enable you to
use the services you subscribe to, only with
your consent and to the extent permitted
by law. For more information, please refer
to the terms and conditions of your subscri-
bed services.

Services provided by third parties
We recommend that you check the terms
and conditions and data protection infor-
mation for all services that your vehicle is
equipped with or that you subscribe to. We
accept no responsibility for services provi-
ded by third parties.
Maintenance data
Please refer to at the start of the
chapt
er on page 44.
Our dealerships record maintenance data
via the diagnostic connection in your vehi-
cle. They use the maintenance data,
e.g. fault logs, to assist with repairs. They
will share this information with our team of
technicians as needed to facilitate diagno-
sis. In addition to use for diagnostic and re-
pair purposes, we also provide mainte-
nance data for the purpose of continuous
improvement to our service providers,
e.g. parts suppliers, to the extent required
