When the childproof lock is switched on,
a locked sliding door is unlocked from in-
side b
y pulling the door release lever so
that it can then be opened from outside.
The electric childproof lock remains active,
i.e. it is still not possible to open the door
from inside.

WARNING
The door in question cannot be opened
from inside when the elec
tric childproof
lock is switched on. This can lead to peo-
ple becoming trapped in the vehicle. In an
emergency, they may not be able to leave
the vehicle independently or to help
themselves.

Never leave children or people requiring
assistance alone in the vehicle when
the doors are locked.
WARNING
If children, people requiring assistance or
animals are le una
ttended in the vehicle,
they could be exposed to very high or low
temperatures. There is a risk of serious or
fatal injuries.

the vehicle.
SAFELOCK

Depending on the vehicle equipment level,
the vehicle may have a SAFELOCK mecha-
nism.
If the vehicle is locked, SAFELOCK deacti-
vates the door release levers and central
locking button so that it becomes more dif-
ficult to break into the vehicle. The doors
can no longer be opened from the inside

ctivating SAFELOCK
1. Press the
button on the vehicle key.

he vehicle is locked. SAFELOCK was acti-
vated.
Deactivating SAFELOCK
— Press the
button on the vehicle key
a
gain within 2 seconds.
— Switch on the ignition.
— Deactivate the interior monitoring func-
tion in the Infotainment system before
locking the vehicle → page 90.
— On vehicles with Keyless Entry: touch the
sensor on the outside of the door handle
again within two seconds → page 81.
The vehicle is locked. SAFELOCK was not
activated.
There may be an indication of the activated
SAFELOCK in the display of the instrument
cluster.
The following applies when SAFELOCK is
deactivated:
— The vehicle can be unlocked and opened
from the inside using the door release
lever.
— The anti-the alarm is active.
— The interior monitoring system and anti-
tow alarm are deactivated.
WARNING
The doors can no longer be opened from
the inside onc
e the SAFELOCK is activa-
ted. Careless or unsupervised use of
SAFELOCK can lock people in the vehicle
