Wipe the indicator clean. Insert the 6.
indicator fully, then remove it again.
If the oil level is between the •
MIN-MAX marks, the oil level is
acceptable. DO NOT ADD OIL.
If the oil level is below the MIN mark, •
add enough oil to raise the level
within the MIN-MAX range.
Oil levels above the MAX mark may •
cause engine damage. Some oil
must be removed from the engine
by a service technician.
Put the indicator back in and ensure 7.
it is fully seated.
Topping up the oil
WARNING
Do not remove the oil ller cap
when the engine is running.
CAUTION
Do not top up further than the
MAX mark.

ENGINE OIL CHECK
CAUTION
Do not use oil additives or other
engine treatments. Under certain
conditions, they could damage the
engine.
Note: The oil consumption of new
engines reaches its normal level after
approximately 5,000 kilometres.
Checking the oil level
Make sure the vehicle is on level 1.
ground.
Turn the engine off and wait a few 2.
minutes for the oil to drain into the oil
pan and the engine to cool down.
Set the parking brake and ensure 3.
the gearshift is securely latched in P
(Park) (automatic transmissions).
Open the bonnet. See 4. Opening
the bonnet (page 105).
Locate and carefully remove the 5.
engine oil level indicator (dipstick).
