PROTECTING LARGER
CHILDREN
Note: The rear seats are the safest
place for children.
When a child outgrows the
recommended weight or height limits for
a forward facing child restraint system,
the child should sit on a booster seat on
the rear seat and wear a lap-sash seat
belt. A booster seat should be used until
the child is tall enough for the lap-sash
seat belt to t properly.
If the seat belt touches or crosses the
child’s neck then the child needs a
booster seat.
WARNING
Never wear a seat belt across the
neck. This could result in serious
neck injury in the event of a collision.
Checking seat belt t
To determine if the lap sash seat belt
properly ts a child, have the child put
on the belt as per instructions in the
fastening the seat belts.

If the shoulder part of the seat belt rests
over the child’s collar bone and against
the centre of the chest, the child is large
enough to wear the lap sash seat belt.
