Instruments
Engine warning lamp
If it illuminates when the engine
is running, this indicates a
malfunction. If it ashes when
you are driving, reduce the speed
of your vehicle immediately.
If it continues to ash, avoid heavy
acceleration or deceleration. The engine
will continue to run but it will have limited
power. Have this checked immediately.
Four-wheel drive indicator
If it illuminates when the 4x4
system has been activated by
pressing the lock switch, see
Four wheel drive 4x4 system (page
78). If the light continues to ash have
the system serviced.
Ignition warning lamp
If it illuminates when you are
driving, this indicates a
malfunction. Switch off all
unnecessary electrical equipment.
Have the system checked by a properly
trained technician immediately.
Security indicator lamp
When there is no key in the
ignition switch, and the theft-
deterrent system has been
armed, the light will ash once every 3
seconds. This indicates the system is
working properly.
Low fuel level warning lamp
If the low fuel level warning lamp
comes on, refuel as soon as
possible.
The arrow adjacent to the fuel pump
symbol tells you on which side of your
vehicle the fuel ller cap is located.
High beam indicator
The main beam indicator will
come on when you switch the
headlamp main beam on. It
will ash when you use the headlamp
asher.
Oil pressure warning lamp
CAUTION
Do not resume your journey if the
oil pressure warning lamp
illuminates despite the oil level being
correct. Have the system checked by a
properly trained technician immediately.
If the oil pressure warning lamp
comes on when you are driving,
this indicates a malfunction.
Stop, and switch the engine off and
check the engine oil level. See Engine
oil check (page 107).
Overdrive off (O/D OFF)
indicator
The overdrive off (O/D OFF)
indicator lamp will come on
when you switch the
overdrive function off. See Automatic
transaxle (transmission) (page 76).
Seat belt reminder
If the driver’s seat belt is not
fastened when the ignition
switch is turned to the ON
position, the seat belt reminder will
remain on until the belt is fastened. If the
system does not operate correctly,
consult your Authorised Ford Dealer.
