ISO – International Organization for Standardization is an international standard-setting body
composed of representatives from various national standards organizations. Founded on February
23, 1947, the organization promulgates worldwide proprietary industrial and commercial
standards.

and tested per the guidelines set by FMCNA in accordance with the requirements of Systems for
Mixing Concentrate at a Dialysis Facility listed in Section 5.3 of the American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) / Advancing Safety in Medical Technology (AAMI) RD61:2006 and Section 5.4 of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13958:2009 Regulations.
Residual Solution Bucket – This bucket can be purchased at any hardware store and should be
made of plastic since a metal bucket corrodes quickly. Any 5 or more gallon plastic bucket can be
used. The use of a bottleneck type container should be avoided.
Specific Gravity - is the ratio of the density (mass of a unit volume) of a substance to the density
(mass of the same unit volume) of a reference substance. Apparent specific gravity is the ratio of
the weight of a volume of the substance to the weight of an equal volume of the reference
substance.
