13-1 General
In accordance with the provisions described in
the European Commission Guidelines Docu-
ment on Council Directive 89/336/EEC,
Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. has chosen to classif
the
FVR-C11S ran
e of Inverters as "Complex
Components".
Classification as a "Complex Components" al-
lows a product to be treated as an "apparatus",
and thus permits compliance with the essential
requirements of the EMC Directive to be demon-
strated to both an inte
rator of FVR Inverters
and to his customer or the installer and the user.
FVR Inverters is supplied ‘CE-marked’, si
nif
-
in
compliance with EC Directive 89/336/EEC
when fitted with specified filter units installed
and earthed in accordance with this sheet.
This Specification requires the followin
per-
formance criteria to be met.
EMC product standard EN61800-3/1996

13-2 RFI Filters
It is stron
l
recommended that the appropriate
FVR input filter is used, as shown in the follow-
in
s, to limit RF current flowin
into the main
suppl
circuit.
Without an input filter a FVR installation ma
not
meet statutor
requirement. FVR Inverters con-
tain hi
h-power semi-conductor devices which
are switched at hi
h speeds to s
nthesize a
near-sinusoidal current wave form across the
frequenc
ran
e of output.
Rapidl

volta
es and currents will
enerate some de
ree of electroma
netic emis-
sion. Emissions will be predominantl
conducted
throu
h the motor and the mains suppl
cables,
althou
h some radiated emissions will be detect-
ed in close proximit
to the drive s
stem.
It is essential that precautions are taken both at
the desi
n sta
e and at the time of installation to
prevent radio frequenc
interference (RFI) from
the drive s
stem affectin
sensitive equipment in
close proximit
.
The RFI filters ran
e are desi
ned especiall
for
the FVR Inverter and help to ensure EMC com-
pliance of machiner
and installations usin
the
Inverters.
The Inverters ma
be mounted on top of the filter

bein
that valuable space inside wirin

ma
be saved. (Refer to Table 13-2-1)
