Focus.
Press the shutter button halfway
to focus.
A Note
The lens may make a noise when the camera
focuses. This is normal.
If the camera is able to focus, it will beep twice
and the indicator lamp will glow green.
If the camera is unable to focus, the red colored
focus frame and R will appear in the
monitor, and the indicator lamp will blink
green. Change the composition or use
focus lock (pg. 33).

Shoot.
Smoothly press the shutter
button the rest of the way down
to take the picture.
B Tip: The Shutter Button
The shutter button has two positions. Pressing the
shutter button halfway (
q
) sets focus and exposure;
to shoot, press the shutter button the rest of the way
down (
w
).

A Note
If the subject is poorly lit, the flash may fire when the
picture is taken. For information on using the flash
