The AE/AFLOCKButton
The AE/AFLOCKbutton can be used to lock exposure or focus.
Locking Exposure
1 Meter exposure,
Position the subject in the focus frame and
press the AE/AFLOCKbutton to meter expo-
sure.
2 Focus.
Keeping the AE/AFLOCK
button pressed, pressthe _ +
shutter button halfway
to focus. Focus and ex-
posure will remain locked while the shutter
button is pressed halfway, even if you later
release the AE/AFLOCKbutton.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 as desired to refocus
before taking the picture.
3 Recompose the picture.
Keeping the shutter button pressed halfway,
recompose the picture.

Adjusting zoom ends AElock. AElock isnot avail-
able with Intelligent FaceDetection.
4Shoot.
Locking Focus
IfAF LOCK ONLY is selected for [] AE/AF-LOCK
BUTTON in the setup menu (_ 104),pressing the
AE/AFLOCKbutton locks focus. If AE/AF LOCK is
selected, both focus and exposure will be locked.

If AE&AF ON/OFF SWITCHis selected for mlJAE/AF-
LOCKMODEin the setup menu (_ 104),exposureand/
or focus will lock when the AE/AFLOCKbutton is pressed
and remain locked until the button is pressedagain.
