The DX80 is preconfigured in the factory and a Background Initialize is started. This
Background Initialize continues to run on the customer side. Depending on the
configuration (number of storage modules), it can run for between one and several
days. This is NOT AN ERROR.
Further information is provided in section "Background Initialize" on page 99.
Creating a Typical Backup Configuration
Before you can begin using the ETERNUS CS800 for backups, you must configure the
system for NAS or Symantec™ NetBackup OST. See the following sections for detailed
instructions for completing each type of configuration:

See this section to configure the ETERNUS CS800 to use OST (OpenStorage) and
Symantec Veritas NetBackup to perform backups and Optimized Duplication.
