Using a Kensington Lock
Your device comes with a Kensington Lock device for the Kensington MicroSaver. With
the Kensington MicroSaver, a sturdy steel cable, you can help protect your notebook from
theft. The Kensington MicroSaver is available as an accessory.

Configuring password p rotection in BIOS Setup Utility
Before using the various options for p assword protection in the B IOS Setup utility
to increase da ta secu rity, please observe the following:
Make a note of the passwords and keep them in a safe place. If you forget your
supervisor p assword you will not be able to access your notebook. Passwords are
not covered by y our warranty and a charge will be m ade for assistance.
Password protection
Your passw ord can be up to eight characters long and contain letters and numbers.
No distinction is made between uppercase and lowercase.
Protecting BIOS Setup Utility (supervisor and user password)
If yo u have opened these operating instructions on the screen, we recommend that
you print out the following instructions. Because y ou cannot call the instructions
onto the screen while you are setting up the password.

You prevent unauthorised use of the BI OS Setup Utility w ith both the supervisor and the user
password. The supervisor password gives you access to all functions of the BIOS Set up
Utility, w hile the user password only provides some of the functions. You can only set a
user passwo rd if a supervisor password has already been assigned.

description of how to call up and operate the BIOS Setup Utilit y.
