Cancelling the hard disk protection (ESPRIMO Mobile)
To cancel a password without setting a new one, proceed as follows:
Call up the BIOS Setup and select the Main menu.
Highlight the Main HDD eld and press the Enter key.
Select the Change Password eld.
You will be initially requested to enter the old password by the Enter current Password prompt.
You will then be requested to enter a new password by the Enter new Password pro mpt.
After entering the password, press the Enter key three times.
From the Exit menu, choose the option Exit Saving Changes.
Press the Enter key a nd select Yes.
The noteb ook will restart, and the hard disk protection will be cancelled.
Boot from Removable Media
With this BIOS feature you can control unauthorised booting of an operating system from external
media (e.g. USB stick, USB CD -RO M drive etc.). Here, we recomme nd that you set up the hard disk
as the rst booting device t o prevent access to your system from bootable CDs or other media.
The condition for this BIOS feature is that you have assigned at
least the supervisor password.
Call up the BIO S Se tup and select the Security menu.
Highlight the Boot from Removable Media eld and press the Enter key.
Select the entry All (if you want everyone to be allow ed to boot) or Supervisor Only (if you
only want the sup ervisor to be authorised to do this) and press the Enter key.
If you do not want to change any other settings you can exit the BIOS Setup.
From the Exit menu, choose the option Exit Saving Changes.
Press the Enter key a nd select Yes.
The noteb ook will restart and the settings will be adopted.
