Device Ports
Your Fujitsu LifeBook notebook and the optional Port Replicator come equipped with multiple ports to
which you can connect external devices including: disk drives, keyboards, modems, printers, etc.
Modem (RJ-11) Telephone Jack
The modem (RJ-11) jack is used for an internal modem. To connect the telephone cable follow these steps:
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
1 Select [Start] > Control Panel.
2 For Windows Vista, select Classic View in the left pane; for Windows 7, select either Large or Small icons in the
View by: field.
3 Double-click Phone and Modems. You may initially need to enter your area code in order to open the Phone
and Modem Options window.
1 Align the connector with the port opening.
2 Push the connector into the port until seated.
3 Plug the other end of the cable into a telephone outlet.
The modem sound may be deactivated initially. To
activate modem sound, follow these steps.
Windows XP:
1 Select [Start] > Settings > Control Panel.
2 Double-click Phone and Modem Options. You may
initially need to enter your area code in order to open the
Phone and Modem Options window.
3 Select the Modems tab and highlight the modem.
4 Click [Properties].
5 Select the Modem tab again, then adjust the volume with
the volume slider.
